About the project
PhD position (m/f/d): Exciton dynamics of organic semiconductors in optoelectronic devices
We are looking for highly motivated and talented PhD students to conduct research in the field of molecular electronics and photophysics.
The project involves the investigation of exciton dynamics of organic semiconductors and their impact on optoelectronic device performance, such as organic light-emitting diodes and/or organic lasers. Excitons with different spins, generated either by photon or electrical excitation, relax to lower energy states with different kinetic rates and quantum yields. We are aiming to investigate and understand the mechanism of different kinetic processes such as trapping, diffusion and annihilation, based on transient absorption spectroscopy, time-resolved spectroscopy and device modelling.
Within the Department of Molecular Electronics, we have access to state-of-the-art facilities and an exciting interdisciplinary and international community.

The ideal candidate will have
• High motivation and scientific curiosity.
• An academic degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or related fields.
• Hands-on experience with organic devices or time-resolved spectroscopy.
• Experience with python, labview or matlab for building setups is a plus.
• Numerical modelling skill for differential equations is an additional plus.
• Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
• Good communication and organizational skills.
