Two Postdoctoral Research Fellow Positions Available – Aging and metabolism associated urology (patho)physiology
Laboratory:Weiqun Yu, M.D., Ph.D., Department of Medicine, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts.
The Yu laboratory seeks to understand molecular mechanisms underlying clinical urological dysfunctions, such as obesity/diabetic cystopathy, ketamine and drug- induced cystitis, and aging-related uropathy etc. Our two major focuses are smooth muscle physiology and epithelial biology in urological system, and how signal pathways regulate these cellular functions. Examples of studied molecular pathways include purinergic signaling, insulin signaling, adipokine signaling, and calcium signaling.
Mouse models include genetically-engineered models, and disease models are routinely used in our laboratory, combined with molecular and cellular biological tools, confocal imaging, microarray, electrophysiology, in vivo viral vector expression, and optogenetic tools. Using these approaches, we can manipulate specific receptor signaling pathway in a defined cell population, and to determine its cellular function and corresponding impact on urological function/dysfunction.
Candidates with a doctoral degree in areas of biology, medicine, bioengineering, and pharmacology are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates are expected to be self-motivated with some relevant experience, and a record of the first author publications is essential. Preference for one of the positions will be given to candidates with strong experience on molecular/cellular biology. The Yu laboratory is supported by multiple NIH projects with access to state-of-the-art facilities. Salary will be according to NIH scale and commensurate with experience.
To apply, please send your CV, three letters of recommendation, and a cover letter to Weiqun Yu: wyu2@bidmc.harvard.edu
The Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School are Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
