辛辛那提大学招收电气工程博士
About the Project
Yeongin Kim Research Group in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Cincinnati seeks for passionate PhD students.
1. Project overview
The planar processing of integrated circuits on silicon wafers have enabled the widespread use of computers and mobile devices and dramatically changed our daily life. Still, sensors, actuators, displays, and energy devices that connect physical space to cyber space and provide essential energy for living have a lot of potential for disruptive improvement.
This project is focused on low-cost large-area deposition and additive manufacturing for electronic textile, wireless/power electronics, and energy devices. The project starts from low-cost synthesis of materials, such as ceramic, which has not been studied so far because of high temperature condition and expensive/toxic gas precursors or high vacuum requirements. Possible target applications of deposited devices include low-power electrically-small wireless systems for wearable and implantable devices, textile-based electronics, high-power devices, water splitting devices for hydrogen production, etc.
The PhD students will work on practical engineering projects based on scientific principles so that the result could be published on high-impact journals and as highly-commercializable patents. More information about the group can be found at the website: https://homepages.uc.edu/~kim4yg
2. Requirements
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials sciences, or related fields. The applicants will be admitted to PhD in Electrical Engineering program.
Minimum of 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale in their highest degree earned.
Tests scores of TOEFL (Minimum 92), IELTS (Minimum 6.5), Duolingo (Minimum 110) and Pearson (Minimum 54). Waivers will be automatically given when their earned degree is from one of the listed countries where English is the official language, or waivers will be considered if the applicant has fulfilled one of the conditions (Waiver information).
ETS GRE General Test score is required with the exception of any student that receives their bachelor's (BS) degree from an ABET accredited university in the United States with a GPA of 3.0+. Although GRE scores are required, the minimum scores are not strictly enforced.
3. University of Cincinnati
Founded in 1819, University of Cincinnati is an urban and public university in the state of Ohio. University of Cincinnati was ranked No. 51 in the NSF's US total R&D expenditure ranking. Home to a diverse student body of nearly 48,000 and more than 6,000 distinguished faculty, the university combines its Research 1 (Very High Research Activity) Carnegie Classification with a physical campus that The New York Times recently acclaimed as "the most ambitious campus-design program in the country"
4. Application process
The opening is available until filled. The admission to PhD program for any semester and the adjustment of its start date can be arranged. The full funding including tuition, stipend, and benefits will be provided. Applicants should submit a CV to Professor Yeongin Kim (kim4yg@ucmail.uc.edu) to initiate the process.
