在PPPT模式或类似教学模式下,关注语言知识的课堂当中,目标语言通常在情景当中呈现,随后单独分析。
(例如讲语法知识,首先需要有个听力或者阅读材料,材料分析结束后,再把语法单拿出来讲讲。)
语言分析包括两个步骤,通常称为highlighting和Concept checking.
Highlighting is taking the model sentence and showing, telling or eliciting what the problems are in terms of form, function and technology.
通过呈现目标语言讲授或引出目标语言的形式,功能及发音。
Concept checking is checking the understanding of difficult aspects of the target structure in terms of function and meaning. Concept checking is vital since learners must fully understand the structure before any intensive practice of form and technology is carried out.
检验学生对于目标语言功能及含义的理解十分重要,学生必须能够完全理解结构才能够进行密集的形式练习及语音练习。
检验学生理解需要通过提问一系列的问题得以实现,学生在回答问题的过程当中,教师能够明确学生是否能够完全理解所讲述的内容。
而单纯的"Do you understand? "OK?"并不能够实现这一目标,并且很大程度上并不能够得到学生真实的回答。Concept checking questions此时可以发挥很大的作用。

提问concept question的注意事项
1. Make sure the questions are simple and no difficult language is required to answer the question. Yes or no questions/ either or questions/simple wh- questions are particularly effective.
确保问题简单,以及回答问题所使用的语言不难.例如,使用一般疑问句,选择疑问句,简单的特殊疑问句,通常都比较有效。
2. Don't use the new grammar in your question.
3. Don't use unfamiliar vocabulary.
4. Bring out basic concepts such as "time" and "tense" in your questions.
在问题当中涉及基本的时间和时态等信息。
Use as many questions as possible to take various aspects of the language and to cover as many learners as possible.

目标语言:Look, they're painting the wall!
Concept checking questions:
Is it happening now? (Yes)
Can you see it? (Yes)
Is the painting finished? (No)
Are they painting now? (Yes)
Is this the past present or future?(present)
目标语言:She is a shop assistant. She works in a shop.
Concept checking questions
Has she got a job? Yes
Is she working now? (don't know)
Does she work there every day? (Yes)
Is it past, present or future? ( present but also past and properly future)
