Do you want to be part of the world's energy transition?
Study, work and develop your professional and personal skills at the same time?
Would you like to work in an international environment, exchange knowledge with top scientists and academics, use state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, publish in top journals, present your results at international conferences and finally obtain a prestigious PhD title?
So come and join us for a Ph.D. at China Beacons Institute (CBI), The University of Nottingham Ningbo China( UNNC).
Brief programme information:
The programme will focus on the application of computational tools to the study of clean and renewable energy. Processes related to pyrolysis, gasification, combustion, co-combustion of biomass, coal, ammonia, hydrogen, metal fuels will be considered, but not limited to them. Experimental work can be carried out using the laboratory facilities of the CBI and UNNC. Desired majors include, but are not limited to: chemical, mechanical and energy engineering, chemistry, etc.
Applicants will have the opportunity to undertake academic exchanges with prestigious European universities and to travel abroad to attend international conferences during their PhD programme.
Supervisor profile:
Prof. Paulo Debiagi obtained his Ph.D. from the CRECK Modeling group at Politecnico di Milano, Italy, under the supervision of Prof. Tiziano Faravelli, a renowned scientist in the field of thermochemical conversion processes. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, at the Simulation of reactive Thermo-Fluid Systems, TU Darmstadt, headed by Prof. Christian Hasse, a renowned scientist in the field of simulation of reactive flows. Paulo is a member of the DFG-funded research center OxyFlame, a project dedicated to the development of oxy-fuel combustion technologies. He was a member of the Hessian-funded Clean Circles, a project dedicated to development of metal fuel based energy technologies. He joined the CBI and UNNC as a faculty member in June 202
3 and is mainly involved in the efficient use of renewable energy, clean thermochemical processes, chemical energy storage and other related areas.
He published +40 papers in top journals such as Progress in Energy and Combustion Science, Applied Energy, Combustion & Flame, Fuel, PROCI, Chem. Eng. Journal, ACS Sust. Chemistry & Engineering, JAAP, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, and others.
Requirements:
Relevant English language certificates (IELTS, TOEFL) are required. For routine discussions with the supervisor, English, Italian or Portuguese may be used.
