About the job
The Lek lab is located in the Department of Genetics at Yale University. Our lab studies all aspects associated with rare disease genetics: (1) Novel gene discovery in large cohorts (2) Methods development in the analysis of genomic data (3) Studying genetic disease mechanisms (4) Design and translation of genetic therapies. We are a young and growing lab seeking candidates that are self-motivated, independent, fast learning with a team-first attitude.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for leading projects involving the development of gene therapies for muscle diseases in patient cells and relevant mouse models. This will include designing genetic correction and/or delivery strategies, involving a range of cell, molecular biology and muscle tissue histology approaches. You will be required to communicate results to collaborators and manage correspondence. Lastly, mentorship of junior scientists and contribution to team projects is expected.
Qualifications
Postdoctoral associate: Ph.D. in Genetics, muscle biology or related discipline. Extensive experience in molecular biology and cell culture techniques is essential. Animal handling experience is high desired.
Postgraduate associate: Bachelor's degree in genetics, molecular biology, or similar discipline.
