About the Project
Background: The current linear extract-produce-use-dispose material flow model of the modern economic system is unsustainable and needs to be addressed. This project is a collaboration between the University of Waikato and BRANZ focused on assessing material flow through the Aotearoa New Zealand’s (NZ’s) building construction sector based on material input, construction, demolition, and material output as well as the life cycle analysis (LCA).
Your ideal background:
• BE/BSc (with honours) or MSc/ME in a related Science/Engineering discipline
• experience in Life Cycle Analysis, including the use of software and database/s
• passion for the application of sustainable materials
• a willingness to learn, up-skill and work in the multidisciplinary group
• a professional attitude, good writing and time management skills
• ability to communicate well including with industry and NGOS and community groups
Value: up to $50,000 per year (3 years), including a stipend (typically $42,500 per year for domestic candidates), domestic tuition fees, support for research materials, and travel.

● English language Certificate (IELTS/TOEFL) where English is not the first language
