Submit to the journal
Submissions to Tourism Critiques are made using ScholarOne Manuscripts, the online submission and peer review system. Registration and access is available at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/trcpt. Full information and guidance on using ScholarOne Manuscripts is available at the Emerald ScholarOne Manuscripts Support Centre.
Registering on ScholarOne Manuscripts
If you have not yet registered on ScholarOne Manuscripts, please follow the instructions below:
Please log on to: https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/trcpt
Click on "Create Account"
Follow the on-screen instructions, filling in the requested details before proceeding
Your username will be your email address and you have to input a password of at least 8 characters in length and containing two or more numbers
Click "Finish" and your account will have been created.
Submitting an article to TRC on ScholarOne Manuscripts
Please log on to TRC at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/trcpt with your username and password. This will take you through to the welcome page (to consult the Author Guidelines for this journal, click on the homepage link in the "Resources" column)
Click on the "Author Centre" button
Click on the "Submit a manuscript" link which will take you through to the manuscript submission page
Complete all fields and browse to "Upload your article"
When all required sections are completed, preview your PDF proof
Submit your manuscript.
Authors submitting papers for publication should specify which section of the journal they wish their paper to be considered for: "Research Papers" or "Viewpoints", etc. The editors and publisher will do everything possible to ensure that the manuscripts are dealt with promptly and that those which are accepted are quickly published.
Ethical and methodological requirements for submissions
Authors should explicitly state that the research complies with ethical requirements when conducting research with human subjects, and the body authorising the research.
Authors using questionnaires for the collection of material should submit a copy of the questionnaire for peer review and indicate whether or not they wish the questionnaire to be published in any final accepted version of the paper.
In other forms of questioning, e.g. focus groups or interviews, please provided details of the mode of questioning and details related to that form of questioning (e.g., how was saturation calculated, why were respondents selected etc).
In quantitative analysis, please provide descriptive statistics and comment on these in the main text.
In quantitative analysis, please provide a rationale for the mode of inferential statistics being used that ensures compliance with the assumptions regarding the method used.
In qualitative analysis, please provide details and a rationale for the mode of analysis used. It is recommended that the use of textual analysis programs may help to verify the interpretation of text gained from interviews, focus groups and written material.
The title of the journal include critiques – we are primarily seeking papers that critique theories, policies and modes of analysis when applied to tourism. If primarily writing up research can authors please, at the very least, take a critical stance in the discussion component of their paper.
Case studies are useful means of critiquing policies and practices, so we do value and welcome case studies that are critical in nature.
