Kethrine老师在听过一节22年的名师示范课后,写了逐字稿分享给大家,让我们一起精进教学。

授课内容:高一语法 比较级

Step 1: Lead-in

Hi! Boys and girls, welcome to my class. Today we are going to learn something about grammar, but more than grammar (这里也太一语双关了). By the end of the class, you will be able to learn grammar rules through comparison and context; use mind map to learn and to develop; use the grammar to have a batter expression of yourself and to appreciate the beauty of the language.

Activity 1: A guess game to help make a better review.

Now, two sentences for you to have fun and get started. The first one. I am as old as my tongue and a little older than my teeth. Why? Because we are born with the tongue and later our teeth appear.

And the second one. There are two libraries in the town, Library A and B. Library A is the biggest in the world but why it is not the largest one of the town? Just because they are only too libraries and we can't see the largest. Yes, it just mind twist and just for fun.

But through these sentences, we can get a better review of the basic rules for the grammar. That is three ways for us to make comparison. They are as ... as, more than and the most. The original form of adjective and adverb is needed in a sentence pattern. When we compare things, we should always compare the same thing. And when we use superiority form, the is always a must.

Step 2: Build-on

But if you are quite sure about it, do you think these sentences are right?

I mean more than plus adjective or a most. Are they OK? In fact, they are all right and that is what we are going to learn today. In order to help you discover more, I prepare a short story for you, which is full of the use of comparative and superlative forms. And would you like to pick out all the patterns which seem to be used for comparison?

Have you found all of them? And decide whether the similar things are used in the same way. In order to discover and learn the new ones, my first tip is to relate the unknown to what is known already.I mean, put two similar things together and you can learn more. For example, if you want to figure out what does less cruel thanmean, we may turn to more beautiful thanfor help. More beautiful than, more than to show something more. So less cruel than, less than to show something less and some practise for you to consolidate.

那么最有用的the most useful one最没用的the least useful one. Now for the rest ones.

It is better for you to learn more through comparison and in context.

For example, the pattern more than willing to helpis quite different from more than twenty years, which is more than plus noun and means great in number. But what does more than plus adjective mean? Since we know the story quite well and in the context we may figure out that it means very. More than willing to helpmeans, I'm quite willing to offer help.

But if you compare these two ones together, what have you got? Have you found sometimes the pattern seems to be used for comparing, but actually there is no comparison at all. A mostit doesn't mean the top one but just very. And so does the pattern as soon as possible. It doesn't mean something is at the same level, but just mean the moment.

But, as pretty as, at the same level , as...asthe same pattern may carry different meanings or different patterns may carry the same thing, isn't it?

And for the sentence pattern like more and more, the more, the more, remember the best learning is in use.

Step 3: Develop-up

So practice makes perfect. It's time for you to use what we have learned to do the things when we use comparative form. It is common for us to express appreciation. Something is better or someone is superior. I have prepared several sentence patterns for you. Tell me who is the class best? You are encouraged to follow the pattern to show your admiration and appreciation of your classmates or the super side of yourselves.

And the second task I prepare is a short video of an experiment and you are encouraged to describe it using the more comparative sentencesthe better

Let's have a try. In order to test on the air pressure, we use a bottle some paper, a fire-maker and an egg. The egg can't be too big or too small, it is just one point five times as big as the mouth of the bottle. So it can block off the air. The longer the paper is burning, the more oxygen is occupied with in the bottle. With the air getting thinner and thinner in the bottle, finally, the egg will be swallowed in. So the conclusion is when the air pressure out of the bottle is much heavier than that in the bottle, it ,may push the egg in.

In this activity, we know that comparative form is always used to show progress, to show development, to make comparison and to describe the times.

Step 4: Put-out

At last, I prepare three pieces of advertisement for students to test and experience the beauty of the language. Go father is for Ford, bigger than bigger. There is less of it, but no less to it. 起止于大,减而未减.

That is language which is full of power and a compare style is prepared. And inspire students to follow.

Students are guided to understand the language and are inspired to use the language to express themselves.

Step 5: Homework

And the homework? The homework is divided into two parts. One is to finish the compare style after class and another is to use comparative sentence pattern to do a weather report and share among groups. That is all for my class and thank you for you attention.
