SOFT MATERIALS
About the Journal
Soft Materials is an international, peer-reviewed journal publishing high-quality, original research. Please see the journal's Aims & Scope for information about its focus and peer-review policy.
Please note that this journal only publishes manuscripts in English.
Soft Materials accepts the following types of article: original articles.
Soft Materials publishes original research papers, reviews, and in-depth tutorials. Topics include theoretical, simulational, and experimental studies, as well as techniques for the preparation, characterization, and analysis of a wide variety of soft matter systems. Soft Materials does not, however, publish articles that contain essentially only reference data for certain compounds or materials. Soft Materials welcomes submissions from all areas of soft-materials research, such as physics, chemistry, materials science, biology and engineering. If you have any other requests, please contact the editor, Prof. Florian Müller-Plathe, Eduard-Zintl-Institut für Anorganische und Physikalische Chemie, Technische Universität Darmstadt, Petersenstr. 20, D-64287 Darmstadt, Germany (e-mail: f.mueller-plathe@theo.chemie.tu-darmstadt.de); or the associate editor, Prof. James Harden, Department of Physics, University of Ottawa, 150 Louis Pasteur, Ottawa, Ontario K1N 6N5, Canada (e-mail: jharden@uottowa.ca).

Good Scientific Practice. By submitting to Soft Materials, authors guarantee that the research has been completed, and the manuscript prepared, according to the accepted standards of good scientific practice. Authors must warrant:
• that the material is their own
• that the manuscript has not been previously published (or is currently under consideration for publication elsewhere)
• that all data is reported as it has been obtained by experiment or calculation
• that no data has been faked, invented, or omitted
• that all text, figures, and tables are the authors’ own work, and are likewise not ‘recycled text’ from previously published works by the authors
With respect to authorship, Soft Materials upholds the position that everybody who has contributed significantly to the work should be a co-author. Those having made only minor or routine contributions should not be listed as co-authors, though may still be acknowledged. ‘Honorary authorships’ are not permitted. In cases where the list of co-authors is unusually long in relation to the amount of research work presented in the manuscript, the Editors may ask the submitting author for an explanation of each co-author’s contribution. The Editors retain the right to ask for authors to be removed, and may likewise decide to reject the manuscript for lack of cooperation.
