Original Research Articles should include a 300-word abstract and 3-6 key words. The paper should be divided into sections, with clear instructions for placement of figures and tables in the text. This should be unpublished work not being considered for publication elsewhere.

Review Articles should provide a general overview of the field and critical interpretation of current research in the area. An abstract and key words should also be presented (as for original research articles).

Case Reports should provide brief but complete account of investigation. A 50-word abstract should also be provided.

Conference Reports should be no more than 1000 words and provide an account of the issues addressed and interesting results presented.

With effect from 1st September 2016; The journal will charge following fee on submission and acceptance

Original/Reviews

Case/Letters

Submission fees

USD 10 / INR 1000

USD 10 / INR 600

Acceptance fees

USD 100 / INR 5000

USD 50 / INR 3000

The review process takes the form of double blind peer review followed by up to 3 external reviewers to asess and comment on the paper followed by revision if required and reassessment by external reviwers of editorial review. The papers are accepted or rejected following this process.

Protection of Patients' Right to Privacy    Identifying information should not be published in written descriptions, photographs, sonograms, CT scans, etc., and pedigrees unless the information is essential for scientific purposes and the patient (or parent or guardian, wherever applicable) gives informed consent for publication. Authors should remove patients' names from figures unless they have obtained informed consent from the patients. The journal abides by ICMJE guidelines:

1)     Authors, not the journals nor the publisher, need to obtain the patient consent form before the publication and have the form properly archived. The consent forms are not to be uploaded with the cover letter or sent through email to editorial or publisher offices.

2)   If the manuscript contains patient images that preclude anonymity, or a description that has obvious indication to the identity of the patient, a statement about obtaining informed patient consent should be indicated in the manuscript.

 Manuscript preparation

Submission of Manuscripts

Manuscripts should be submitted on line via Journal on web - website under Noise and Health Journal. Each page of the manuscript should be numbered. The front page should contain the article-title, author's name and affiliation, keywords and an abstract. The abstract should not exceed 250 words and should be intelligible without recourse to the main text. Footnotes and a list of notations should be avoided.

Text and heading should be ranged left. Do not use block letters, except for abbreviations. Please do not use indentations to mark the beginning of a paragraph, but leave one blank line between paragraphs. Each paper must be accompanied by a brief abstract and 5-8 keywords

 Figures/Tables

All illustrations should preferably be provided electronically. If generating computer illustrations, please ensure these do not use shading as this distorts on reproduction. Only cross-hatching or black and white for contrast should be used. Computer generated illustrations should be supplied as separate graphic files (in GIF, TIF or JPEG format; 400 dpi) on disk and not embedded in the text of the manuscript.

Please supply hardcopy of illustrations separately, and number (e.g. Figure 1, 2) "Half tones" (black and white photographs) should be on glossy paper, and line diagrams should be of high quality and not photocopies.

Please provide illustrations in the size that you want them to appear in the Journal, or slightly larger (if the size of an illustration is reduced, the sharpness of the image is increased, and vice versa). Care should be taken to ensure that lettering and detail should be legible after the size reduction. Each illustration should bear on the back a number, the author's name and the title of the paper. Legends for illustrations should be presented separately at the end of the manuscript and should be identified by number.

Any necessary copyright permission should be requested at the earliest possible stage, and sent to the Editor.

Tables should be numbered likewise (Table 1, 2, etc) and included in the text. Tables should have a table heading and column headings, with no vertical rules and a minimum of horizontal rules. The Headings should start with a capital letter. Please do not use spaces to align columns in tables, but use only one tab between each vertical column. Please make sure that all the illustrations and tables are cited in the text if not already embedded in it so that the publisher can make sure they are placed correctly.

References

The ICMJE (www.icmje.org) system is adopted, whereby references should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text (not in alphabetic order). Identify references in text, tables, and legends by Arabic numerals in superscript. References cited only in tables or figure legends should be numbered in accordance with the sequence established by the first identification in the text of the particular table or figure. Use the style of the examples below, which are based on the formats used by the NLM in Index Medicus. The titles of journals should be abbreviated according to the style used in Index Medicus. Use complete name of the journal for non-indexed journals.Periodicals and books should accord with the following examples:

Michaud DS, Miller SM, Ferrarotto C, Konkle AT, Keith SE, Campbell KB. Waking levels of salivary biomarkers are altered following sleep in a lab with no further increase associated with simulated night-time noise exposure. Noise Health 2006;8:30-9.
