INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
The journal of studies in History and Theory of Architecture (sITA) accepts contributions in the form of original research papers (in line with the theme of the current issue – see Call for Papers) or review papers documenting recent events (book reviews, exhibitions, conferences etc).
Authors should carefully read and comply with the Publishing Agreement and the Publishing Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement, which can be found on our website (sita.uauim.ro).
Articles are to be submitted online via e-mail (sita@uauim.ro). A preliminary abstract of 200-250 words should be submitted as indicated in the Call for Papers. Preselected authors will be notified shortly afterwards. Final papers should be sent in by the indicated deadline. All contributions will undergo a double-blind peer review procedure. The peer review form can be found on our website.
Articles are to be submitted in English. In non-English quotations, diacritical marks should be used as appropriate. Use of Cyrillic and Greek quotations is allowed, as is transliteration.
Research papers should range between 5000 and 8000 words (1000-2000 words for reviews), including notes, references and tables. Contributors are asked to send a Microsoft Word compatible document (.doc, .docx, .rtf), 1.5 spaced, with minimal formatting.
The title page should include the contributor’s name, affiliation and e-mail address, 5–7 keywords as well an abstract of 200-250 words. An extended summary ranging between 700 and 1000 words (to be published in Romanian) will also be submitted. Romanian authors are kindly asked to send in the extended summary in Romanian; our staff will insure the translation for foreign authors. Reviews will not be accompanied by abstract, summary or keywords.
If the text is divided into sections, intermediate headings need to be clearly differentiated (first level headings are bold, second level headings are italic). Notes (presented as footnotes) and references are to be provided using the ‘notes and bibliography’ system as indicated by The Chicago Manual of Style (for complete references, see https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide/citationguide-1.html; some main examples are given below). A reference list should be included at the end of the paper.
Use Ibid. for an immediate reference to the same work; do not use op. cit. or loc cit. Use a shortened title for a later reference to the same work, e.g.: Last Name, Shortened Title, 105-10. Do not use p. or pp. to indicate page numbers. Use double quotation marks (“ ”) for quotes and single quotation marks (‘ ’) for quotes within quotes. Periods and commas should be placed inside quotation marks.
Non-English book and article titles should be provided in their original language. An English translation in brackets should follow, e.g.: Original Title [English translation] for books or “Original
Title” [English translation] for articles. Translation should only be provided for citations, and not within the reference list. Do not translate or abbreviate journal titles (transliteration is allowed).
……
Illustrations, tables and charts are to be provided separately, and their position needs to be indicated throughout the paper. A full list of figure captions must be provided at the end of the article (including figure number, description and source). Images need to be submitted at publishable quality (.tiff or .jpg format, min. 300 dpi, with the desired printed size indicated in centimeters; printed size should not exceed 13x475px). Normally, an article should have no more than 5-7 images. Tables (provided in editable format) and charts should also be listed at the end of the article. Maps and plans should be accompanied by graphic scale.
Authors are responsible for securing the rights to reproduce and publish all graphic material.
sITA does not charge any kind of article processing or publication fees.
