Romance Philology (RPh), founded in 1947 by Yakov Malkiel, continues to concern itself with medieval Romance literatures and the linguistic history of the Romance languages. The editorial board welcomes articles on medieval Romance literatures, historical Romance linguistics, and textual criticism, including editions of medieval texts.
Method of peer review: Anonymous peer review, as well as review by the editorial board.
Articles are evaluated on the basis of the style of presentation, on the relevance of the article to broader topics in Romance philology, and on the potential interest of any particular article to a readership that may specialize in either literature or linguistics.
Final acceptance of an article requires the author to have a current subscription to the journal (for further details, see "Guidelines for Submission to Romance Philology" in the Fall 2012 issue).
Languages accepted: French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish, as well as English; authors whose native language is not English should note that translation into English is not required and is, in fact, discouraged by editorial policy.
Manuscript submission: Before sending manuscripts, authors are advised to consult with the Editor-in-Chief, Barbara De Marco, using the following email address: RPhEditorial@gmail.com. All authors, especially those whose native language is not English, are reminded that Romance Philology publishes contributions in German and in the major Romance languages, as well as in English; translation into English is not required, and is, in fact, discouraged by editorial policy. All contributions are edited thoroughly for style and substance. Conformity with the style sheet is required only upon final acceptance of the manuscript for publication. Articles are not rejected on the basis of their conformity with the style sheet. Detailed directions on style and formatting will be provided to an author whose article successfully passes the peer review.
Reviews and review articles are commissioned by the Editor in consultation with members of the Editorial and Advisory Boards. Books for review should be sent to the attention of Jerry R. Craddock, at the following address:
