AIM AND SCOPE
Journal of Oceanology and Limnology (JOL) (formerly Chinese Journal of Oceanology and Limnology (CJOL)) was established in 1982 under the auspices of Chinese Society for Oceanology and Limnology and managed by Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is a peerreviewed comprehensive bimonthly journal and co-published by Science Press, China, and Springer. JOL is covered or indexed by Science Citation Index Expanded (SciSearch), Journal Citation Reports/Science Edition, SCOPUS, INSPEC, Astrophysics Data System (ADS), Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), Google Scholar, EBSCO, CSA, ProQuest, CAB International, Academic OneFile, ASFA, Biological Abstracts, BIOSIS, CAB Abstracts, Chinese Science Citation Database, Gale, GeoRef, Global Health, OCLC, Referativnyi Zhurnal (VINITI), SCImago, Summon by ProQuest, Zoological Record.
JOL aims to disseminate original research articles in the forms of review, research paper, and note. JOL welcomes highquality articles on aspects of oceanology (oceanography) and limnology from all over the world, including those in academic coverage: biology (bioinformatics, bioengineering), physics (mathematical and computational physics), geology (sedimentology, geophysics, paleontology, geochemistry), chemistry (geochemistry, biochemistry), hydrology, meteorology, and geography; and those in practical coverage: aqaculture, marine resource exploration, remote-sensing, environmental protection, marine engineering, pharmacology, and instrumentation. Manuscripts submitted are considered only on the condition that the contents are not plagiarized nor published elsewhere previously, and must be complied with ethical standards. Articles submitted shall state explicitly the objectives and novelty. The articles shall be written in good English and smooth logic, and well understood by the broad audience.
MANUSCRIPT
PREPARATION
A manuscript should be in MS Word format. Please visit the Instructions & Forms at the JOL submission site for details.
The International System of Units (SI) must be used.
Abstract shall outline the research background, objective, method, main results, and conclusion; and the significance and novelty shall be stated explicitly; <300 words in length.
Keyword list shall include 3–6 words or phrases.
In-text citations should appear chronologically and the reference list alphabetically. Internet materials shall be listed with an accessible URL and the date accessed.
Tables and figures shall be inserted in the context in order and clearly labeled with self-explanatory captions. Color printing is encouraged.

EVALUATION AND ACCEPTANCE
A manuscript is first evaluated in editorial and scientific perspectives, and it shall be hypothesis-driven, novel, and have a broad interest to researchers and public outside the immediate area. Then, the manuscript will be peer-reviewed by at least two specialists. The decision will be made in about two months in general.
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
Manuscripts of poor English will be disqualified from peerreview.
At the time of submission, authors of non-native English shall provide proofs indicative of the English proficiency, such as certificate/diploma/document of education/working in English-speaking countries/companies, or language polishing by recognized companies or nativespeaking professionals.
Upon the manuscript acceptance, it will have English refined to correct language problems at JOL’s costs.
CHARGES
Possible charges include potential open access and manuscript processing costs, such as language polishing, Online First publication, page-amount based printing, HTML, PDF, and XML publication, and submission to electronic citation databases, etc.
