Further Information
General
The Journal of Labelled Compounds and Radiopharmaceuticals publishes all aspects of research dealing with labeled compound preparation and applications of these compounds. This includes tracer methods used in medical, pharmacological, biological, biochemical and chemical research in vitro and in vivo.
The Journal of Labelled Compounds and Radiopharmaceuticals devotes particular attention to biomedical research, diagnostic and therapeutic applications of radiopharmaceuticals, covering all stages of development from basic metabolic research and technological development to preclinical and clinical studies based on physically and chemically well characterized molecular structures, coordination compounds and nano-particles.
Guidelines for Structural Characterisation
Thorough and unambiguous structural characterisation of novel labelled compounds and radiopharmaceuticals is a prerequisite for publication in JLCR. A compound characterisation checklist is provided for your guidance. Please ensure the characterisation data provided on novel labelled compounds conforms with these guidelines.
Manuscript Submission
All papers must be submitted via the online system. Journal of Labelled Compounds and Radiopharmaceuticals operates an online submission and peer review system that allows authors to submit articles online and track their progress via a web interface. Please read the remainder of these instructions to authors and then click http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jlcr to navigate to the Journal of Labelled Compounds and Radiopharmaceuticals online submission site.
IMPORTANT: Please check whether you already have an account in the system before trying to create a new one. If you have reviewed or authored for the journal in the past year it is likely that you will have created an account.
File types. Preferred formats for the text and tables of your manuscript are .doc, .rtf, .ppt, .xls. LaTeX files may be submitted provided that an .eps or .pdf file is provided in addition to the source files. Figures may be provided in .tiff or .eps format.
INITIAL SUBMISSION
NON-LATEX USERS: Editable source files must be uploaded at this stage. Tables must be on separate pages after the reference list, and not be incorporated into the main text. Figures should be uploaded as separate figure files.
LATEX USERS: For reviewing purposes you should upload a single .pdf that you have generated from your source files. You must use the File Designation "Main Document" from the dropdown box.
REVISION SUBMISSION
NON-LATEX USERS: Editable source files must be uploaded at this stage. Tables must be on separate pages after the reference list, and not be incorporated into the main text. Figures should be uploaded as separate figure files.
LATEX USERS: When submitting your revision you must still upload a single .pdf that you have generated from your now revised source files. You must use the File Designation "Main Document" from the dropdown box. In addition you must upload your TeX source files. For all your source files you must use the File Designation "Supplemental Material not for review". Previous versions of uploaded documents must be deleted. If your manuscript is accepted for publication we will use the files you upload to typeset your article within a totally digital workflow.
Accepted Article
'Accepted Articles' have been accepted for publication and undergone full peer review but have not been through the copyediting, typesetting, pagination and proofreading process. Accepted Articles are published online a few days after final acceptance, appear in PDF format only (without the accompanying full-text HTML) and are given a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), which allows them to be cited and tracked. The DOI remains unique to a given article in perpetuity. More information about DOIs can be found online at http://www.doi.org/faq.html. Given that Accepted Articles are not considered to be final, please note that changes will be made to an article after Accepted Article online publication, which may lead to differences between this version and the Version of Record.
The Accepted Articles service has been designed to ensure the earliest possible circulation of research papers after acceptance.
Accepted articles will be indexed by PubMed; therefore the submitting author must carefully check the names and affiliations of all authors provided in the cover page of the manuscript, as it will not be possible to alter these once a paper is made available online in Accepted Article format. Subsequently the final copyedited and proofed articles will appear either as Early View articles in a matter of weeks or in an issue on Wiley Online Library; the link to the article in PubMed will automatically be updated.
Proofs
Once the paper is typeset, authors will receive an e-mail notification with a link and instructions for accessing HTML page proofs online. Page proofs should be carefully proofread for any copyediting or typesetting errors. Online guidelines are provided within the system. No special software is required, all common browsers are supported. Authors should also make sure that any renumbered tables, figures, or references match text citations and that figure legends correspond with text citations and actual figures. Proofs must be returned within 48 hours of receipt of the email. Return of proofs via e-mail is possible in the event that the online system cannot be used or accessed.
Please note that the author is responsible for all statements made in their work, including changes made during the editorial process – authors should check proofs carefully.
Copyright and Permissions
If your paper is accepted, the author identified as the formal corresponding author for the paper will receive an email prompting them to login into Author Services; where via the Wiley Author Licensing Service (WALS) they will be able to complete the license agreement on behalf of all authors on the paper.
For authors signing the copyright transfer agreement
If the OnlineOpen option is not selected the corresponding author will be presented with the copyright transfer agreement (CTA) to sign. The terms and conditions of the CTA can be previewed in the samples associated with the Copyright FAQs below:
CTA Terms and Conditions http://exchanges.wiley.com/authors/faqs---copyright-_301.html
For authors choosing OnlineOpen
If the OnlineOpen option is selected the corresponding author will have a choice of the following Creative Commons License Open Access Agreements (OAA):
Creative Commons Attribution License OAA
Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial License OAA
Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial -NoDerivs License OAA
To preview the terms and conditions of these open access agreements please visit the Copyright FAQs hosted on Wiley Author Serviceshttp://exchanges.wiley.com/authors/faqs---copyright-_301.html and visit http://www.wileyopenaccess.com/details/content/12f25db4c87/Copyright--License.html.
If you select the OnlineOpen option and your research is funded by certain funders [e.g. The Wellcome Trust and members of the Research Councils UK (RCUK) or the Austrian Science Fund (FWF)] you will be given the opportunity to publish your article under a CC-BY license supporting you in complying with your Funder requirements.
For more information on this policy and the Journal’s compliant self-archiving policy please visit:http://www.wiley.com/go/funderstatement.
Authors must sign, scan and upload to the online system:
Copyright Transfer Agreement with original signature(s) - without this we are unable to accept the submission, and
permission grants - if the manuscript contains extracts, including illustrations, from other copyright works (including material from on-line or intranet sources) it is the author's responsibility to obtain written permission from the owners of the publishing rights to reproduce such extracts using the Wiley Permission Request Form
The Copyright Transfer Form and the Permissions Form should be uploaded as “Supplementary files not for review” with the online submission of your article.
If you do not have access to a scanner, further instructions will be given to you after acceptance of the manuscript.
To enable the publisher to disseminate the author's work to the fullest extent, the author must sign a Copyright Transfer Agreement, transferring copyright in the article from the author to the publisher, and submit the original signed agreement with the article presented for publication. Submission of a manuscript will be held to imply that it contains original unpublished work and is not being submitted for publication elsewhere at the same time. Submitted material will not be returned to the author, unless specifically requested
Article Preparation Support
Wiley Editing Services offers expert help with English Language Editing, as well as translation, manuscript formatting, figure illustration, figure formatting, and graphical abstract design – so you can submit your manuscript with confidence.
Also, check out our resources for Preparing Your Article for general guidance about writing and preparing your manuscript
Presentation of papers
Manuscript style. Use a standard font of the 12-point type: Times, Helvetica, or Courier is preferred. It is not necessary to double-line space your manuscript.
Tables must be on separate pages after the reference list, and not be incorporated into the main text. Figures should be uploaded as separate figure files.
During the submission process you must enter 1) the full title 2) the short title of up to 70 characters 3) names and affiliations of all authors and 4) the full address, including email, telephone and fax of the author who is to check the proofs.
Include the name(s) of any sponsor(s) of the research contained in the paper, along with grant number(s).
Enter an abstract of no more than 250 words for all articles. Please see the guidance below on acceptable abstract writing for JLCR.
Keywords. Authors should prepare no more than 10 keywords for their manuscript.
Writing Abstracts
An abstract is a concise summary of the whole paper, not just the conclusions. The abstract should be no more than 250 words and convey the following:
1. An introduction to the work. This should be accessible by scientists in any field and express the necessity of the experiments executed
2. Some scientific detail regarding the background to the problem
3. A summary of the main result
4. The implications of the result
5. A broader perspective of the results, once again understandable across scientific disciplines
It is crucial that the abstract convey the importance of the work and be understandable without reference to the rest of the manuscript to a multidisciplinary audience. Abstracts should not contain any citation to other published works.
Nomenclature, Abbreviations and Symbols
Nomenclature, abbreviations and symbols should follow the latest rules of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). In IUPAC nomenclature, isotopic substitution is indicated by a prefix consisting of (1) any necessary locant numeral or numerals; (2) the atomic symbol with the mass number as a superscript to the left of the symbol; and (3) a subscript (other than the unity) indicating the number of such atoms. Trivial names should be avoided unless the compound is to be mentioned often in the text, in which case a systematic name should also be given the first time the trivial name is used.
Journal of Labelled Compounds and Radiopharmaceuticals also touches on biology and medicine, and therefore a wide range of nomenclature rules apply./p>
For biological and biochemical nomenclature authors should conform to the (identical) guidelines published in J Biol Chem 260:16-42 (1985) and Eur J Biochem 138:9-37 (1984).
For biomedical nomenclature authors should conform to rules given in the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals prepared by the International Steering Committee of Medical Editors. Reprints of this document are available from the Editor, Annals of Internal Medicine.
For questions of style, usage and punctuation, refer to The Chicago Manual of Style, which will be the final authority.
