Guidelines for Authors of Izvestiya, Atmospheric and Oceanic Physics
The editorial board of Izvestiya, Atmospheric and Oceanic Physics requests authors to adhere to the following guidelines when submitting manuscripts:
1. Izvestiya, Atmospheric and Oceanic Physics accepts original research articles, reviews solicited by the editorial board, and short communications devoted to theoretical and experimental studies of physical processes in the atmosphere and ocean. The scope of the journal includes physical and mathematical aspects of climate theory, atmospheric circulation, and their interaction; propagation of electromagnetic and acoustic gravity waves in the natural environment; composition and state of the atmosphere and the ocean, and the impact of natural and anthropogenic factors on them.
2. A copyright transfer agreement must be attached to the manuscript. If the manuscript is rejected, this agreement will not come into force.
3. The manuscript should be reasonably concise, but clear. The length of a manuscript with illustrations (two figures per page) should not exceed 20 typewritten pages. Short communications should not exceed eight typewritten pages. The length of a review should be at most 40 000 symbols, including those in figures.
4. The first page of the manuscript should contain the title, the list of authors, their affiliations, addresses, abstract, keywords, and text.
Two copies of the manuscript are submitted, printed double-spaced on one side of A4 paper with the following margins: left, 4 cm; top and bottom, 2.5 cm; and right, 1 cm. The last page of the manuscript should be signed by all authors. The authors’ full names, addresses with zip codes, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses should be listed on a separate sheet.
5. Formulas are numbered in parentheses (2); references to the literature in the main text are given in square brackets, e.g., [7]; they should be numbered consistently in the order they appear in the text.
6. Illustrations should be presented on separate sheets. Inscriptions in the figures should be replaced whenever possible by numbers or letters, which should be clarified in the text or in the figure caption. Figure captions are typeset on a separate page.
7. Cited works are listed on a separate page in the following format:

Press, 2004, pp. 267–286.
8. If the revision of a manuscript takes more than three weeks, the second date when the manuscript is received “in final form” is indicated. If completion of the manuscript exceeds two months, the paper is considered a new submission. Return of the manuscript for revision does not mean that it is accepted for publication. The revised manuscript should be resubmitted to the editorial board in two copies along with the original version and a reply to all comments.
9. Proofs are sent to the authors only by e-mail.
10. Free reprints of the published article are sent
to the authors as PDF files to the e-mail address indicated by the authors.
Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's scope or do not comply with these requirements will be rejected.
DIGITAL COPY OF A MANUSCRIPT
A digital copy of the manuscript is submitted to the editorial board upon acceptance for publication and should be completely identical to the original print version. Corrections, additions, etc., made without editorial board’s consent will not be accepted.
The e-mail address of the corresponding author should be provided.
The digital version should include a file containing the main text and files of illustrations. If the text and illustrations are prepared in a single file, the authors must also submit separate files with illustrations. The set of files must be accompanied by an inventory, which should contain the name of the text editor, file names, journal title, manuscript title, and surnames and initials of the author(s). Files may be submitted by e-mail or FTP. When sending files via e-mail, it is recommended to adhere to the following rules:
Indicate the journal title and number and the name of the first author in the subject field of a message; In the case of large volumes of information, wellknown archive tools (ARJ, ZIP, RAR, etc.) should be used.
The main text of a manuscript should be prepared in Microsoft Word format. Please use standard fonts (for example, Times New Roman, Courier New, Arial, etc.). The standard point size is 12. Lines in the text within a paragraph should not be separated by a carriage return (usually, the Enter key).
Bitmap images should be submitted in TIFF format with a resolution of 600 dpi and 256 shades of gray. Vector drawings must be submitted in the format of the program in which they are prepared:
CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator, FreeHand, or in EPS format. Photographs should be prepared in TIFF format at a resolution of at least 300 dpi. If the program is not commonly used, it is recommended to also save graphics files in WMF or EPS format. Files of illustrations should be named in such a way that it is clear to which paper they belong and what their order is in the text. Each file should contain one figure.
