We are excited to announce a call for contributions to a Special Issue on Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) (e.g., Gender, Poverty, Racism, Neighborhood and Built Environment, Health Care Access) and Health Outcomes to be published in the Journal of Advanced Nursing. The impact of SDOH on health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities manifest in many ways and shape opportunities to thrive in societies across diverse contexts.

What to submit
We welcome the submission of papers that expand our understanding of the complex interactions between SDOH and Health Outcomes and its impact among marginalized populations such as women, children and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and other People of Color). We welcome papers that reflect SDOH and Health outcomes among marginalized populations that reside in urban or rural settings.
We expect to see a wide variety of papers reflecting philosophical and theoretical perspectives. We are particularly interested in papers that include culturally responsive, innovative, and cutting- edge research methodologies.

Papers that advance our understanding of the interactions and the effects of SDOH on health and well-being, provide evidence-based strategies for the education and clinical practice of nurses and other health care professionals, or discuss programs or interventions aimed at mitigating the effects of SDOH are encouraged. Papers reporting quality improvement or program evaluation of initiatives that address SDOH and health outcomes (e.g., advocacy, policy development, practice changes) are also sought. Please note acceptance is not guaranteed and all manuscripts will be blind peer reviewed in line with JAN policy.

To ensure your manuscript is identified as a Special Issue submission and assigned to one of the Guest editors for this Call, please follow the steps below:
In Special Issue section - you will be asked to indicate what Special Issue your submission is for – please select “Intersection of Social Determinants of Health and Health Outcomes” from the drop-down menu.
