英文和中文并非简单的逐字对应，有时会有一些“省略”，这样反而更加准确和地道，下面收集总结了几种“省略”的情况。
外周动脉缺血性疾病

这里表达成peripheral artery disease即可，不用将ischemic（缺血）写出来，因为peripheral artery disease这个词本身就已经含有“缺血”的意思了：

变化幅度大于...

这里不用把“幅度”译出，因为change本身就相当于“变化幅度”。同理，“升高幅度大于”、“下降幅度大于”也是直接用greater increase/reduction/decrease 即可。
几种细胞系

✓ several cell lines
几种细胞因子
⍻ several kinds of cytokines / several types of cytokines
✓ several cytokines
在这里，“种”不用将“kind”或“type”译出来，several cell lines和several cytokines虽然不含有“种”对应的英文，但并不影响意思的准确理解。
交叉免疫反应
⍻ cross-immune response
✓ cross-immunity
这里不一定要把response、reaction之类的词译出，cross-immunity本身就已经表达到位了。
cross-immunity可以和between搭配，比如：cross-immunity between the four serotypes，或者和against搭配，比如：Infection with this virus elicits cross-immunity against subsequent infection with another virus.
有交叉免疫保护作用
⍻ has a cross-immunoprotective effect against
✓ provide cross-immune protection against
这里可以换一种思路，有...作用不一定非要写成has ... effect，表达成provide cross-immune protection against更加地道。
Sanger测序技术
⍻ They were identified by Sanger sequencing technology.
✓ They were identified by Sanger sequencing.
像“方法”、“技术”等词在翻译时常常可以省略。
有时，非核心信息也可以略去以使文章显得简明而不啰嗦。比如，采用单个核苷酸多态性基因分型芯片，可以考虑略去“芯片”：using single nucleotide polymorphism genotyping.
论文标题里的研究（Study）、观察（Observation）、调查（Investigation）这些词常常也可以省略，因为肯定是做了调查研究才会写论文，所以这些词是多余的。
了解职业应激情况

investigate本身就含有“调查情况”的意思了，所以通常不用再把condition、situation之类的词译出。
第二代高通量测序技术
⍻ next-generation high-throughput sequencing

第二代高通量测序技术不需要写成next-generation high-throughput sequencing，因为这里“第二代”并非修饰“高通量”，说第二代的高通量，而是二者为同义并列关系，第二代即高通量，高通量即第二代：
next-generation sequencing: High-throughput (formerly "next-generation") sequencing applies to genome sequencing, genome resequencing, transcriptome profiling (RNA-Seq), DNA-protein interactions (ChIP-sequencing), and epigenome characterization.
所以，写成next-generation sequencing 或 high-throughput sequencing比较合适。
Mann-Whitney U非参数检验
⍻ Mann-Whitney U nonparametric test
✓ Mann-Whitney U test
Kruskal-Wallis H非参数检验
⍻ Kruskal-Wallis H nonparametric test
✓ Kruskal-Wallis H test
这两个检验本身就是非参数检验，所以nonparametric不用译出，Mann-Whitney U test和Kruskal-Wallis H test的概念本身就包含了这些信息。

要表达指标变化的意义，一般不需要把“变化”译出，因为既然是“指标”，就是说其数值变化。
冠词
⍻ the heart, the lung, and the kidney
✓ the heart, lung, and kidney
器官、组织和解剖部位名称的单数形式前一般要用定冠词，但是这类名称并列出现时，可以只保留第一个而省略其他的定冠词。
句子中，在不影响意思表达的情况下，也可以省略一些重复的成分，这样更加简洁。
⍻ 100 patients were followed up for at least 3 years, and 50 patients were followed up for at least 5 years.
✓ 100 patients were followed up for at least 3 years, and 50 patients for at least 5 years.
