Mycotaxon, the international journal of fungal taxonomy and nomenclature, is no longer active. We ended our 50-year run with our last issue, volume 137 number 4, on November 11, 2024. This website has information about our publishing history, primarily a listing of our past issues and list of editors and administrators, and houses the mycobiota that have been submitted. We have provided an FAQ to answer most of your questions, but if you don’t find the answers you need, feel free to contact us.
From 1974 - 2023, Mycotaxon was a quarterly peer-reviewed journal exclusively devoted to all phases of the taxonomy and nomenclature of fungi (including lichens). All articles were peer-reviewed by specialists prior to acceptance. Publication was open to all persons. Authors prepared their own article after having received critical comments from pre-submission reviewers. Articles were accepted in English only, with summaries or abstract in any language(s). In 2022 the journal was on hiatus as we searched for a new editorial team, but without finding a suitable team, decided to end publication at the end of 2023.
The journal was founded by Co-Editors Grégoire L. Hennebert and Richard P. Korf in 1974; the historical record of editors, administrators, and our editorial advisory board (link to personnel.html) are maintained on this website for reference. In 2011 the journal became available in electronic format which enabled unlimited color illustrations. Print versions were available through the end of the journal to subscribers who preferred a print issue.
The Mycotaxon Publication History lists all the journal publication dates, as well as books that were published by Mycotaxon, Ltd.
