Submission guidelines
Instructions for Authors
Manuscription Submission
Manuscripts, in English, should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief via the Journal’s web-based online manuscript submission and peer-review system:
http://ijmh.edmgr.com
Papers should be submitted under one of the following categories:
Letters to the Editor; Regular articles; Review Articles; Letters of law; Brief reports; Clinical case studies; Commentaries; Book reviews; News updates (research, education and clinical).
Inquiries regarding Journal policy and other such general topics should be sent to the Editor:
Masood Zangeneh
International Journal of Mental Health & Addiction
e-mail: masood.zangeneh@gmail.com
The online system offers easy straightforward log-in and submission; supports a wide range of submission file formats [Word, WordPerfect, RTF, TXT and LaTeX for manuscripts; TIFF, GIF, JPEG, EPS, PPT, and Postscript for figures (artwork)]; eliminates the need to submit manuscripts as hard-copy printouts, disks, and/or e-mail attachments; enables real-time tracking of manuscript status by author; and provides help should authors experience any submission difficulties (click on "Contact Us" from the toolbar).
Submission is a representation that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. A statement transferring copyright from the authors (or their employers, if they hold the copyright) to Springer will be required before the manuscript can be accepted for publication. Authors will receive an electronic notification to transfer copyright of the article to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC. Such a written transfer of copyright, which previously was assumed to be implicit in the act of submitting a manuscript, is necessary under the U.S. Copyright Law in order for the publisher to carry through the dissemination of research results and reviews as widely and effectively as possible.
Manuscript Style
All pages should be typed double spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font and numbered (including pages containing the title, author name and affiliation footnotes, abstract, acknowledgments, references, tables, and figure caption list).
A title page is to be provided that includes the article title, author’s name (no degrees), author’s affiliation, and suggested running head. The affiliation should comprise the department, institution (usually university or company), city, and state (or nation) and should be typed as a footnote to the author’s name. The suggested running head should be less than 80 characters (including spaces) and should comprise the article title or an abbreviated version thereof. For office purposes, the title page should include the complete mailing address, telephone number, fax number and e-mail address of the one author designated to review proofs.
An abstract is to be provided, preferably no longer than 150 words. A list of 5-6 key words is to be provided directly below the abstract. Key words should express the precise content of the manuscript, as they are used for indexing purpose.
Papers should be no more than 6,000 words. Sexist or racist language should not be used. Colloquial or highly specialized language should be avoided whenever possible. Statistics are acceptable but must be explained in simple terms. Do not include headers, footers, formatted text or endnotes. Only electronic submissions will be accepted.
Illustrations
Illustrations (photographs, drawings, diagrams, and charts) are to be numbered in one consecutive series of Arabic numerals. The captions for illustrations should be typed on a
separate page. Photographs should be large glossy images, showing high contrast. Color art should be in the CYMK color space.
Tables should be numbered (with Roman numerals) and referred to by number in the text. Each table should be typed on a separate page. Center the title above the table, and type explanatory footnotes (indicated by superscript lowercase letters) below the table.
References
List references alphabetically at the end of the paper and refer to them in the text by name and date in parentheses.
The International Journal of Mental Health and Addiction follows the reference style provided in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA). For detailed information on APA style, please consult the APA style website. The electronic PDF version of the most recent edition of the APA style guide can be purchased directly from APA:

Conflict of Interest
When authors submit a manuscript, they are responsible for disclosing all financial and personal relationships that might bias their work. To prevent ambiguity, authors must state explicitly whether potential conflicts do or do not exist. Each author must indicate whether or not they have a financial relationship with the organization that sponsored the research. For each source of funds, both the research funder and the grant number should be given.
Conflict of interest statements should be present on every manuscript before the References section. The statement
should mention each author separately by name. Recommended wording is as follows:
Author X declares that he has no conflict of interest.
Author Y has received research grants from Drug Company A.
Author Z has received a speaker honorarium from Drug Company B and owns stock in Drug Company C.
If multiple authors declare no conflict, this can be done in one sentence:
Author X, Author Y and Author Z declare that they have no conflict of interest.
The manuscript must also be accompanied by the “Authorship & Disclosure Form” on the journal website.

'All procedures followed were in accordance with the ethical standards of the responsible committee on human experimentation (institutional and national) and with the Helsinki Declaration of 1975, as revised in 2000 (5). Informed consent was obtained from all patients for being included in the study.'
If any identifying information about patients is included in the article, the following sentence should also be included:
'Additional informed consent was obtained from all patients for which identifying information is included in this article.'

Animal Studies
For studies with animals, include the following sentence in the manuscript before the References section:
'All institutional and national guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals were followed.'
If the authors did not carry out animal and/or human studies as part of their article they must include the following statement in the manuscript before the References section:
'No animal or human studies were carried out by the authors for this article'
The editors reserve the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with the above-mentioned requirements. The author will be held responsible for false statements or failure to fulfill the above-mentioned requirements

English Language Editing
For editors and reviewers to accurately assess the work presented in your manuscript you need to ensure the English language is of sufficient quality to be understood. If you need help with writing in English you should consider:
Asking a colleague who is a native English speaker to review your manuscript for clarity.
Visiting the English language tutorial which covers the common mistakes when writing in English.
Using a professional language editing service where editors will improve the English to ensure that your meaning is clear and identify problems that require your review. Two such services are provided by our affiliates Nature Research Editing Service and American Journal Experts. Springer authors are entitled to a 10% discount on their first submission to either of these services, simply follow the links below.
