Case reports

Case reports on adverse reactions are also of interest.

Short reports

Short reports e.g. of pilot studies on original research will be considered. The length of short reports, including references, should not exceed 1,500 words, with a structured abstract of ~ 100 words and not more than 2 figures or tables or one of each. Any proposed excess over these limitations must be justified by the authors in the covering letter.

Non-registered trials will no longer be accepted with the exception of long-term trials begun before 2002. We define a clinical trial as any research project that prospectively assigns human subjects to intervention or comparison groups to study cause and effect relationships of interventions. Trials must register at or before the onset of patient enrollment. Registries that currently meet required standards (e.g., of accessibility, information validation, comprehensive documentation) include: US National Library of Medicine, www.clinicaltrials.gov – The International Standard Randomised Controlled Trial Number Registry, www.controlled-trials.com – European Clinical Trials Database, www.eudract.emea.europa.eu – The National (UK) Research Register, www.update-software.com/national.
