Instructions for Authors
Article Types
Natural Products and Bioprospecting publishes a variety of content including Articles, Reviews, and Communications.
Articles
These are original research manuscripts that should report scientifically sound experiments and provide a substantial amount of new information. The article should include the most recent and relevant references in the field. For specific instructions and templates, please refer to the journal's webpage. Typically, there is no word count limitation, but the article should generally be under 10,000 words, including references. It is required to include a title, abstract, keywords, a graphical abstract, abbreviations (if used), an introduction, results, discussion, materials and methods, references, as well as figures and legends, with a limit of fewer than 10 items.
Reviews
Reviews provide a comprehensive analysis of the existing literature within a field of study, identifying current gaps or problems. They should be critical and constructive, offering recommendations for future research. No new, unpublished data should be presented. A review must include a title, abstract, keywords, a graphical abstract, abbreviations (if needed), an introduction, a conclusion, and references. The total word count for reviews is expected to be less than 10,000 words.
Communications
They are short articles that showcase groundbreaking preliminary results or significant findings from studies conducted over multiple years. They may also feature cutting-edge methods or experiments, as well as the development of new technology or materials. These articles emphasize future directions within the field and offer personal assessments from the authors' perspective. The structure is similar to that of a review article. They can be either invited by the editors or submitted as unsolicited contributions. They should be less than 1,500 words, including references, and should contain no more than one figure.

Submission of a manuscript implies: that the work described has not been published before; that it is not under consideration for publication anywhere else; that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities – tacitly or explicitly – at the institute where the work has been carried out. The publisher will not be held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation.
Permissions
Authors wishing to include figures, tables, or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) for both the print and online format and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors.
