SUBMITTING ARTICLES
ADS is published twice annually: in April and October. April issues are general and unthemed; October issues are guest edited and are devoted to some special focus interest.
Contributions for April issues should be directed to the general Editor (Yoni Prior) while those for October should be directed to the Guest Editor[s]. In practice, prospective contributors should, in the first instance, send an expression of interest and abstract to the relevant editor or guest editor before committing to a fully-written article.
Contributions up to 6000 words (including endnotes) are acceptable. Video essays and other digital content is also welcomed.
All articles are peer-reviewed anonymously; consequently the author's name must not appear on the copy submitted. The editors will contact the author with any suggested alterations and comments after peer assessments have been made. This process can take up to 2 months.
If accepted for publication, a disc or email copy, a five-line biography of the author and list of key words is required.
Titles should reflect as closely as possible the topic of your article. In your title, please try to include the appropriate key words that a researcher might use to find your article in a database.
Contributors should follow the MLA style for citations but using endnotes. For example, after a quote or reference is made in the text, an endnote number is cited. In the list of NOTES at the end of the article the citation should then conform to the following examples:

Reviews should not normally exceed 1,200 words and should not include Endnote references.

Online retrieval of articles available from APAFT (Australian Public Affairs Full Text Service) and from Informit (RMIT Publishing). Acceptance for publication implies assigning rights to ADS to publish material in any format. Copyright and moral rights remain with authors.
The editors welcome relevant visual images, video clips or sound files to accompany written texts. Please submit images as separate jpeg files or black and white photographs. Please ensure that the videographer/photographer/designer is duly acknowledged and that they understand the copyright arrangements (including the image's online availability through APAIS). The photographer's name as well as any persons appearing in the image should be clearly marked on the back of the photograph or in an email in the case of jpeg attachment.
