Guide for Authors
Introduction
The International Journal of Refrigeration is essential reading for all those wishing to keep abreast of research and industrial news in refrigeration, air conditioning and associated fields. This is particularly important in these times of rapid introduction of alternative refrigerants and the emergence of new technology. The journal has published special issues on alternative refrigerants and novel topics in the field of boiling, condensation, heat pumps, ice-slurry systems food refrigeration, carbon dioxide, ammonia, hydrocarbons, magnetic refrigeration at room temperature, sorptive cooling, and phase change materials and slurries in refrigeration and air conditioning.
Types of Contributions
Research papers should report original research or development of techniques and applications. They should be written with a wide readership in mind and should emphasise the practical significance of the work. The objective should be stated, procedures clearly explained and results and conclusions given. Research papers should not exceed 5000 words at first submission, with a maximum of 15 figures (subdivided diagrams, made up by a., b., etc. count as multiple figures. Inserts are not counted separately). The abstract, nomenclature, concise figure captions and reference are additional to the length allowance.
Review papers should provide an authoritative account of the current situation in a topic of major significance, discussing the previous development of the subject and future directions. Prospective authors should send suggestions for review papers to the Editor-in Chief before manuscripts are submitted. Review papers should not normally exceed 7000 words.
Short reports, which are submitted in the same way as papers, concentrate on new techniques, concepts and instruments; they should not exceed 1,500 words and simple illustrations may be included, with up to 5 figures.
The journal will also consider notices of forthcoming meetings and exhibitions, conference reports and book reviews, which should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief. The Editors reserve the right to require authors to conform with the length of the guidelines given here, however if this is not specified with should not exceed 1500 words.
Letters to the Editor arising out of published articles and papers will also be considered for publication and should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief.
