Author Guide - ScholarOne Submission
In partnership with Wiley, the IET have taken the decision to convert its hybrid journals from a library/subscriber pays model to an author-pays Open Access (OA) model effective from the 2021 volume, which is now in effect for all new submissions to the journals.
All of the IET journals including the existing open access journals have migrated to a new electronic peer-review management system using ScholarOne which is now open for all new submissions. Authors of new submissions should follow the ScholarOne Author Guide below.
For further information on Article Processing Charges (APCs), Wiley’s transformative agreements, Research 4 Life policies, please visit our FAQ Page or contact journals@theiet.org
Any papers that have been submitted to the journal prior to the system migration will continue to run in ReView and authors of these submissions should use the Author Guides linked below:

Open Access
All IET journals are gold open access titles. Submissions will be subject to an Article Publication Charges (APC) if accepted and published in the journal. You can read more about APCs (Wiley) and whether you may be eligible for waivers or discounts, through your institution, funder, or a country waiver.
There is no charge for submitting to IET journals.
Article Preparation Support
Wiley Editing Services offers expert help with English Language Editing, as well as translation, manuscript formatting, figure illustration, figure formatting, and graphical abstract design – so you can submit your manuscript with confidence.
Also, check out our resources for Preparing Your Article for general guidance about writing and preparing your manuscript.
Article Pre-Screening
All papers must be written in English and are pre-screened to ensure that only the most significant are sent for review. Please ensure that your manuscript satisfies the following points:
1. Originality: is the work scientifically rigorous, accurate and novel? Does the work contain significant additional material to that already published? Has its value been demonstrated?
2. Motivation: does the problem considered have a sound motivation? Does the paper clearly demonstrate the scientific interest of the results?
3. Referencing: has reference been made to the most recent and most appropriate work? Is the present work set in the context of the previous work?
4. Clarity: is the English clear and well written? Poorly written English may obscure the scientific merit of your paper. Are the ideas expressed clearly and concisely? Are the concepts understandable?
Journal-Specific Submission Information
IET Generation, Transmission & Distribution and IET Power Electronics do not accept papers in multiple parts (submissions entitled ‘Part I’, ‘Part II’, etc.). All papers submitted should be self-standing and not reliant on any other publication.
IET Circuits, Devices & Systems does not consider any previously rejected papers, and any such papers submitted for consideration to this journal will be automatically rejected.
IET Computer Vision requires all authors of all submitted papers to include a cover sheet with answers to the questions and requirements listed below:
What is the theoretical foundation of your work?
Please provide a brief outline of the main contributions of your paper.
What is the closest work to that reported in your manuscript and the differences with that work?
Please confirm your paper includes a substantial review of the state of the art and includes comparative evaluation of your work against one or more other works, preferably on a publicly available dataset.
Please confirm that this submission is your original work.
Free Format Submission
IET Journals now offer free format submission for a simplified and streamlined submission process.
Before you submit, you will need:
Your manuscript: this can be a single file including text, figures, and tables, or separate files—whichever you prefer. All required sections should be contained in your manuscript, including abstract, introduction, methods, results, and conclusions. Figures and tables should have legends. References may be submitted in any style or format, as long as it is consistent throughout the manuscript. If the manuscript, figures or tables are difficult for you to read, they will also be difficult for the editors and reviewers. If your manuscript is difficult to read, the editorial office may send it back to you for revision.
