IEEE Sensors Journal Guide for Authors
This guide is for authors who intend to submit a manuscript for publication in the IEEE Sensors Journal.
MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION
Authors are encouraged to submit complete manuscripts. The IEEE Sensors Journal does not republish papers that have appeared in conference proceedings unless the submission based on a conference paper contains substantial new material. However, the IEEE Sensors Journal does publish expanded, more complete, archival-quality versions of ideas and concepts that have been presented at conferences and published in conference proceedings: please, see our special instructions for expanding conference papers on our website.
Please do not send original submissions or revisions directly to the Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editors. Submissions to the IEEE Sensors Journal are to be made electronically through IEEE Manuscript Central, over its Webpage, http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/sensors. The site contains instructions on how to proceed with downloading one’s submission.
Authors are required to prepare manuscripts employing the double-column style template developed by IEEE. Normally, the length of a submitted manuscript should not exceed 8 pages formatted in double-columns. Manuscripts that exceed eight pages will incur mandatory over length page charges at the time of acceptance (see below on this page for the related costs). Since changes resulting from the peer review may require additions to papers manuscripts, it is strongly recommended that authors practice economy in preparing their original submissions. The abstract of the submitted manuscript should be prepared according to the requirements. In particular, now a graphical is mandatory too. So, please, check at the template for manuscript to be submitted to IEEE Sensors Journal at the right template you find in this list of templates. Further general information on article preparation and submission, templates, etc. can be found in the IEEE Author Digital Toolbox.
PUBLISHING IN OPEN ACCESS
To help authors gain maximum exposure for their groundbreaking research and application-oriented articles, IEEE Sensors Journal offers the option for open access (OA) publishing with a fee of $ 2045.
Even in case of publication not in OA, the author(s) or their company/institution will be asked, after the acceptance of a manuscript for publication, to pay a voluntary fee of $ 110 per page to offset the cost of publication, if they wish.
MANDATORY OVERLENGTH PAGE CHARGES
Author(s) or their company/institution will be billed $ 175 per page in excess of the first eight published pages. Overlength page charges apply for pages over 8 for regular papers and over 12 for review papers. These charges are mandatory, and the author(s) will be held responsible for them. Payment of these charges is not negotiable or voluntary. Manuscript submission to this Journal signifies the authors’ acceptance of the requirement to pay mandatory overlength page charges. The Publisher holds the right to withhold publication of the current submission or any future submissions from the author(s) if this charge is not honored. To avoid incurring mandatory page charges, the author(s) are advised to practice economy in the original manuscript submission and restraint in preparation of the final manuscript following peer review.
REVIEWERS
Your submitted manuscript will be sent to reviewers who will evaluate your work. You have an opportunity to suggest potential reviewers as part of the submission process. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. Suggesting reviewers might expedite the review of your manuscript. Please suggest only those who work at institutions other than your own and with whom you have no collaborative or other technical or family ties.
BEWARE OF MULTIPLE SUBMISSIONS
The IEEE Sensors Council cannot tolerate unfortunate situations when authors submit the same, or nearly identical, manuscript to more than one journal. In such cases:
the manuscript in question will be immediately rejected
other manuscripts of the same authors/co-authors currently under review will be returned
the authors/co-authors will be prohibited from new submissions to the Journal for at least one calendar year.
COPYRIGHT
By policy, IEEE owns the copyright to the technical contributions it publishes. To comply with the United States copyright law, authors of accepted papers are required to submit online a completed IEEE Copyright Form. The form returns to the authors and their employers full rights to reuse their material for their own purposes. The Copyright Form can be reviewed from the IEEE site, https://ieeeauthorcenter.ieee.org/?s=Copyright+form
KEYWORDS
Each submission must be classified by the author with one category of the Journal’s Keywords. Please find here a list of keywords that should be used while submitting the paper.
ABBREVIATIONS
This Journal follows the IEEE practices on units and abbreviations, as outlined in the IEEE’s published standards; see IEEE Information for Authors kit at https://ieeeauthorcenter.ieee.org/?s=abbreviation
MATHEMATICS
All mathematical expressions must be legible. Do not give derivations that are easily found in the literature; merely cite the reference.
