IEEE Intelligent Systems Author Information
As a premier IEEE publication, IEEE Intelligent Systems is widely available, both in print and in digital libraries, which makes it an ideal place to publish novel scientific and engineering papers that have actual impact on the practice of intelligent system development. IEEE Intelligent Systems emphasizes current practice and experience and promising new ideas that will likely be used in the near future. Our readers are particularly interested in novel tools, techniques, concepts, and current R&D activities that can lead to use in real-world applications. Example topics include:
The Semantic Web
Adaptive and intelligent robotics
Knowledge-based systems
Intelligent software agents
Natural language processing and text mining
Knowledge management
Machine learning and data mining
Intelligent web applications and web mining
Social computing and social media analytics
Intelligent interfaces and visualizations
Social issues relevant to intelligent systems
Articles describing technically significant work at specific companies, laboratories, and university environments are welcome. The intent is to provide the reader information on advances in the areas listed above, specifics on novel features and applications, discussions of limitations and failures, and an awareness of the trends in this rapidly evolving area. We also welcome tutorials, surveys, case studies, and guided tours through projects, designs, and algorithms. IEEE Intelligent Systems is looking for succinct, practical, readable articles that will appeal to experts and nonexperts alike.
Submission Information
Feature articles should be no longer than 5,400 words, with tables and figures counting as 300 words each. Articles should have no more than 20 references (except surveys, which may have up to 30 references). The abstract should be no more than 150 words and should describe the overall focus of your manuscript.
Articles should be accompanied by a short biographical sketch containing, in the following order, your current position, affiliation, technical interests, highest degree received (including the area of study and the name of the institution), related professional affiliations, and postal and email addresses.
Submissions are subject to peer review on both technical merit and relevance to IEEE Intelligent Systems’ readership. Submissions to IEEE Intelligent Systems must represent original material. Do not submit to more than one publication at a time. Submissions previously published in conference proceedings, digests, preprints, or records are eligible for consideration provided that the author informs the editorial staff at the time of submission and that the submissions have undergone substantial revision.
Before submitting, please read our author guidelines. When you are ready to submit, please go to https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/is-cs.
Open Access
This magazine is a hybrid publication, allowing either traditional manuscript submission or author-paid Open Access (OA) manuscript submission.
The OA option, if selected, enables unrestricted public access to the article via IEEE Xplore and the Computer Society Digital Library with payment of the current Article Processing Charge (APC). The OA option will be offered to the author at the time the manuscript is submitted and the APC must be paid before the article is published in the magazine. Note that authors will receive an email from CCC-Rightslink, our APC vendor, asking for payment. Please visit the IEEE Open Access FAQs for further details. Authors seeking an APC waiver should submit substantiated evidence and documentation to pubs-waivers@computer.org. Corresponding authors from low-income countries are eligible for waived or reduced open access APCs.
The traditional option, if selected, enables access to all qualified subscribers and purchasers via IEEE Xplore and the Computer Society Digital Library. No OA payment is required.
