About the Journal
Australian Journal of Forensic Sciences is an international, peer-reviewed journal publishing high-quality, original research. Please see the journal's Aims & Scope for information about its focus and peer-review policy.
Please note that this journal only publishes manuscripts in English.
Australian Journal of Forensic Sciences accepts the following types of article:
Article, Review Article and Book Review
Australian Journal of Forensic Sciences considers all manuscripts on the strict condition that they have been submitted only to Australian Journal of Forensic Sciences, that they have not been published already, nor are they under consideration for publication or in press elsewhere. Authors who fail to adhere to this condition will be charged with all costs which Australian Journal of Forensic Sciences incurs and their papers will not be published.
Contributions to Australian Journal of Forensic Sciences that are submitted as original research will be subject to review. The journal also publishes plenary presentations, commentaries and short reviews and these may be subjected to review by referees at the discretion of the Editorial Office.
Open Access
You have the option to publish open access in this journal via our Open Select publishing program. Preparing Your Paper
Should be written with the following elements in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; main text introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion; acknowledgments; declaration of interest statement; references; appendices (as appropriate); table(s) with caption(s) (on individual pages); figures; figure captions (as a list)
Should be no more than 4000 words.
Should contain an unstructured abstract of 200 words.
Should contain between 3 and 6 keywords. Read making your article more discoverable, including information on choosing a title and search engine optimization.
Style Guidelines
Please refer to these quick style guidelines when preparing your paper, rather than any published articles or a sample copy.
Please use British (-ize) spelling style consistently throughout your manuscript.
Please use single quotation marks, except where ‘a quotation is “within” a quotation’. Please note that long quotations should be indented without quotation marks.

Papers may be submitted in Word or LaTeX formats. Figures should be saved separately from the text. To assist you in preparing your paper, we provide formatting template(s).

Checklist: What to Include
Author details. All authors of a manuscript should include their full name and affiliation on the cover page of the manuscript. Where available, please also include ORCiDs and social media handles (Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn).
