Information for Contributors
Aims and Scope
China Ocean Engineering takes as its prime function the integration of new research concepts, equipment, technology, materials and structures and other scientific advances within the field of ocean engineering, with particular reference to developments in China. The Journal is concerned with all engineering aspects involved in the exploration and utilization of ocean resources, such as offshore engineering, coastal engineering, dive and salvage, utilization of marine energy resources and underwater engineering.
Topics regularly covered include design and construction of structures (including wharfs, dikes, breakwaters, platforms, mooring systems, etc.), instrumentation/testing (physical model and numerical model), material research, structural/stress analysis, soil mechanics, sedimentation and wave dynamics.
Information for Contributors
1. General
Authors are requested to submit their manuscripts which have not been published and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and will be requested to sign a statement transferring copyright. All manuscripts must be submitted in English. Manuscripts for publication should be submitted to the Editorial Office, 34 Hujuguan, Nanjing 210024, P. R. China.
2. Manuscripts
Manuscripts should be typed double-spaced on one side of white paper (A4 size) with wide margins. Good quality printouts with a font size of 12 pt are required. Authors should submit an electronic copy of their papers with the final version of the manuscript. The manuscript should have an abstract and keywords, and it is recommended the author proceed as follows: introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, conclusion, acknowledgments and references. The corresponding author should be identified (including a Fax number and E-mail address). The text must be carefully checked in order to avoid correction in the proofs; in case of incorrect presentation, the manuscript might be returned to the author for retyping. The SI system should be used for all scientific and laboratory data.
3. Mathematical symbols and expressions
Mathematical expressions should be carefully inserted, with subscripts and superscripts clearly indicated. Authors should avoid ambiguities, for example, make distinction between "zero" and the letter "o", the numeral "one" and the letter "l", etc. Vectors should be indicated in bold. Equations should be numbered consecutively. Mathematical symbols will be set in italic by the printer except for log and sin. Please encircle in the text any symbol to be left in roman.
4. Figures and photographs
All figures should be numbered consecutively and referred to in the text. Figures originally created in an electronic form should be supplied as electronic image files, as well as high quality hard copy originals. Illustration and photographs that are not originally produced electronically should be submitted as high quality hard copies that can be electronically scanned for optimal reproduction.
5. References
References should be arranged alphabetically by the first author’s name without numbering. The text citation should consist of the author’s name and year of publication [e. g. “Zang, 2002” or as shown by an earlier study (Zang, 2002)]. When there are two or more papers by the same author in the same year, the distinguishing suffix (a, b, etc.) should be added. In listing references, each one must be complete and in the following form: For an article: author(s), year of publication, title of article, title of Journal (abbreviated), volume number with issue number in parentheses, inclusive pages. For a book: author(s), year of publication, title of book, publisher, pages.
6. Proofs and reprints
Proofs will be sent to the first author, and should be corrected and returned within one week of receipt. Any queries in proofs should be answered in full.
