1 “a, an, the”
该错误很容易被忽视，要么忘记加冠词，要么加错地方。

（总归来说，可数名词都需要加冠词或者复数，不可数名词在某些情境下是可数的，这时也需要加冠词或者复数。比如，research不可数，但是你单独讲哪个研究或者哪几个研究，就需要加冠词或者复数了。特指的时候需要加定冠词，也就是说，某些特有的，如earth、environment、space这些是独一无二的，需要加the，加了某些特定修饰语的，一般也需要加冠词，因为这也是一种特指。像上述例子中，在本研究中是独一无二的，也要用the，而不是a/an。 ）

2 句…子…真…的…太…长…了…
说国人英语差呢，可是写的句子又是比谁的都长。
可能是受高考的影响，句子越长结构越复杂，越容易得高分。所以国人写作常常各种复杂句式反复堆积。但是这似乎和SCI写作精神恰巧相反。
SCI不要求太复杂的句式，通常简单复杂句交替，有韵律层次感。如何能做到简约呢，限制一个句子的topic，不要一个句子包含太多topic。如果你一个句子的内容实在太多，可以考虑用分号。
以下举几个too long的例子，啊，头皮发麻中。
Too long 1
According to the characteristic of fan-coil air-conditioning systems, this paper derives the cooling formula of fan-coil units based on the heat transfer theories and puts forward a new method to gauge cooling named Cooling Metering on the Airside, which can monitor the individual air-conditioning cooling consumption during a period of time by detecting the parameters of inlet air condition – temperature and humidity – of the fan-coil air-conditioning system as well as the parameters of inlet cooling water provided by the chiller.
Correct

3 原因、目的等先行（错误示范）
国人写作的时候，通常句子开头喜欢先抬出目的、位置、原因等因素，再抛出真正的topic，这会给人产生不直接的感觉。英文的写作手法是主干先行，再跟随状语条件。

4 条件、时间应后置

5 强调主语应放句首

6“which/ that”指代不明确
指代不明确，容易造成混乱。
如下面这句，

‘Shijiazhuang south road underground bridge possesses the largest jacking force which is built at 1978(10680t).’
你猜哪句是对的？？？
答案揭晓
是第一句，猜对了吗？
7 ‘Respectively’ 和 ‘respective’
Respectively常用于句末。和respective一样，表达的是一种与前面提到的对象的一种对应关系（两个或者两个以上对象），如果这种顺序不重要，那么就不要用这两个词了。
常见错误是位置错误和使用错误。
Incorrect
Equations 2～6 can be respectively linearized as:……(equations given)…13
Correct
Equations 2～6 can be linearized as:……(equations given)…, respectively.
Incorrect
The weights of the two experts are respectively 0.600 and 0.400.19

切记，如果这种对应顺序不重要，
那么就不要用这俩词了。
看下面的例子。

8‘In this paper’‘in this study’
有没有被点名？国人常会用到这两种表达，但是native English writers只会在两种情况下使用这两种表达：一是在介绍或者总结时对整个文章的总述；二是文中，在提到其他paper或者标准工作之后。
也就是说，如果你使用这两种用法总共超过三次，那么就可能有问题了。因为，没必要强调这篇研究，读者会知道是讲的这篇研究的。
另外，还要注意，in this study和in this paper含义不同，不能混用。

Study是指这项研究工作，paper是呈现这种工作的一种形式，是确定的读者正在阅读的实体。是有区别的。
另外，可以用其他用法，譬如in this research和this paper present
9数字和公式的用法
中国人喜欢用阿拉伯数字，而非one two three，这没毛病（毕竟我们数学好，哈哈），但是请不要讲阿拉伯数字置于句首。

12 parameters were selected for the experiment.
Correct
Twelve parameters were selected for the experiment.
另外，要避免阿拉伯数字使用过于频繁的问题。阿拉伯数字一般是用来展示实验数据，而非一般的信息。
Incorrect
All 3 studies concluded that the mean temperature should be 30°C.
Correct
All three studies concluded that the mean temperature should be 30°C.
另外，方程式可以用，但是要避免用在一句话中。
比如International Journal of Production Research, discourage已经拒绝了在甚至很短的句子中使用方程式。

If the power battery SOC > SOClo and the driving torque belongs to the middle load…
Correct
If the power battery SOC is greater than SOClo and the driving torque belongs to the middle load…
10 格式
段落
段落不是你想分，想分就能分。通常的规则是每段有个topic，位于句首或者句末。
图表
Figure和Table的正确缩写是Fig和Tbl，但是后者很少见。如果你用figure，那么全篇都用figure，如果你用Fig.，那么全篇也应该用Fig.，不要混用，就连大小也是，不能一会Figure，一会figure。另外，缩写一般不用于句首。
Variables
一些衍变的文字应该斜体，如拉丁语系来源的，比如in situ，et al，但是也有说法，认为他们使用太频繁了，已经没必要斜体了，这具体要根据期刊要求。
‘such as’ and ‘etc.’
国人常会用错这两个词，前者意思是for example，后者含义是等等，后者用于句末。有时，会出现两者连用的情况，这就太冗余了。记住，不要连用。

Such as意思是说，没列举完，因此，如果你列举完了，就没必要用such as了，etc.更不用说了。

再来一些非常重要的小tips
（1）有些反复数同形的就不要加s了。
比如
• literature (when referring to research)
• equipment,
• staff (referring to a group of people)
• faculty
2) 避免表述冗余
（第一列为冗余表述，可以用相应的第二列或者第三列的表述）
3) 某些单词本身就要求名词复数，如different、various，以及数字，如two、three等。
4) 不能句首使用缩写和阿拉伯数字
5) 不要用by this way这种用法，可以用by doing this 或者using this method
6) 不要再句首使用 ‘How to…’

7) 不要说 ‘the results are shown in Figure 2’. 也不要说 ‘the results are showed as Figure 2’.
8) 斜体变体很重要，可以区分英文文本。
Write ‘The graph shows t, a, and C as a function of time’. Do not write ‘The graph shows t, a, and C as a function of time’.
9) 不要像下面的例子一样使用obviously

Obviously, detecting regimes by means of PMH maps is a novel method.8
Correct

10) 国际期刊不应该使用at home，abroad，或者here等地域词汇，应为读者可能不在中国，你应该使用in China
11) 避免使用this is to say，或者namely。你应该用一句话表达好你的句子。
12) 书面语中，不要在句末使用too，尤其是科学文章中。
