通过几个例句了解代词使用的几种形式（主格、宾格、所有格）

先看看下面这个表达方式：

Give this work to whoever looks idle.

上句中，whoever是“looks idle”的主语，而“whoever looks idle”是to的宾语。

如果who引导从句，它的形式由它在从句中的作用而决定：

Virgil Soames is the candidate who we think will win. [We think he will win.]

who是win的主语，所以用主格。

Virgil Soames is the candidate whom we hope to elect. [We hope to elect him.]

whom是elect的宾语，所以用宾格。

比较句中，如果代词是已陈述动词的主语则用主格：

Sandy writes better than I (write).

I think Horace admires Jessica more than I (do).

如果代词是已陈述动词的宾语则用宾格：

Polly loves cake more than （she loves） me.

再看下面这个句子：

A group of us taxpayers protested.

us与taxpayers并列为同位语,同为of的宾语，语法上没有问题，不过这句话如果表达成以下形式会更好：

A group of us protested as taxpayers.

动名词之前的代词通常用所有格：

Mother objected to our driving on the icy roads.

现在分词之前的代词通常用宾格：

They heard him singing in the shower.
