The doctoral program at the Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture (gta) at ETH Zurich will award  two scholarships for doctoral students starting October 1, 2023 . The focus of the program is on the history and theory of architecture and urban design in the broader cultural historical context, including the history and theory of art, science and technology.

Job Description

The two fully funded fellowship positions are open to research in all areas of the history and theory of architecture and urbanism, and we welcome innovative proposals across methods, regions and time periods. The gta scholarship holders are free to determine the content of their doctoral thesis and are not obliged to orientate themselves towards the research interests of a specific research group.

As an option, gta scholarship holders in the third year of the program can hold a seminar on a topic of their choice in connection with the dissertation.

your profile

For the gta scholarships we are looking for young researchers with a background in the history and theory of architecture and art or architects with research experience.

You have obtained a diploma or master’s degree in architecture, art history or related fields from a university.

Proven expertise in research and writing is an essential requirement.
