World Journal of Urology

Submission guidelines

Instructions for Authors

General Information

Please note that the journal does not offer pre-evaluation. Therefore please directly submit your manuscript to EditorialManager at the link below. The Editors will then contact you

EditorialManager

It is the Corresponding Author’s responsibility to ensure that he/she has the correct authors’ names, affiliations, addresses and author sequence when the final corrected proofs are submitted. Please keep in mind that corrections are no longer possible after online first publication. All additional corrections need the approval of the Editor-in-Chief(s) and would result in the publication of an erratum that will be hyperlinked to the article.

Types of papers

WJU contains four different types of articles:

A) Topic Papers:

The Editor in Chief invites Topic Editor(s) for each topic issue. The Topic Editor(s) then invite(s) authors to submit manuscripts electronically. Topic Papers undergo the standard peer reviewing procedure. The final decision for publication lies with the Editor in Chief. Content of topic papers may either be original work or reviews. According to their personal invitation, each author will submit directly into their topic issue.

B) Original Articles:

Original Research Articles that have NOT been invited for a topic issue.

A limited number of ‘original articles’’ on new research of exceptionally high scientific value will be published in each issue of WJU. The manuscripts can be submitted electronically without prior invitation. Editorial board members will organize peer reviewing. The final decision for publication lies with the Editor in Chief.

C) Reviews:

Reviews by experts in the field are invited. Reviews should be no longer than 20 double-spaced, typewritten pages using font size 12.

D) Letters to the Editor:

Comments on published papers are welcome, but should not exceed 500 words, 10 references, and 1 figure or table. They should contain an illustrative title, but no abstract or subheadings.

E) The World Journal of Urology does not publish the following article types: Uninvited reviews, case reports and case notes.

Length of manuscripts

Maximum word length for Original Articles or Topic Papers: 3000 words.

Maximum word length for reviews: 4000.

Abstract and References are excluded from the final word count.

There is no maximum for tables and figures, but each table or figure is counted as 250 words and is deducted from the final word count in any submission.

Maximum number of references is 30, for review articles 60.

Manuscript Submission

Submission of a manuscript implies: that the work described has not been published before; that it is not under consideration for publication anywhere else; that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities – tacitly or explicitly – at the institute where the work has been carried out. The publisher will not be held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation.

Permissions

Authors wishing to include figures, tables, or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) for both the print and online format and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors.

Online Submission

Please follow the hyperlink “Submit manuscript” on the right and upload all of your manuscript files following the instructions given on the screen.

Please ensure you provide all relevant editable source files. Failing to submit these source files might cause unnecessary delays in the review and production process.

Plagiarism

Please note that there is a routine electronic check of submissions for issues of plagiarism.
