Papers for consideration should be submitted via the Editorial Manager submission site once you have read the preparation guidelines below.

Infancia y Aprendizaje considers all manuscripts on the strict condition that

the manuscript is your own original work, and does not duplicate any other previously published work (completely or partly), including your own previously published work.

the manuscript has been submitted only to Infancia y Aprendizaje; it is not under consideration or peer review or accepted for publication or in press or published elsewhere.

the complete manuscript does not exceed 7000 words.  Word counts must include title, running head, abstract, keywords, tables, figures, annexes, references, captions, footnotes and endnotes. Manuscripts that greatly exceed the word counts described above will be critically reviewed with respect to length. Authors should include a word count with their manuscript.

the manuscript contains nothing that is abusive, defamatory, libellous, obscene, fraudulent, or illegal and, if applicable, has been approved by the ethics or deontological commission of your institutions, and has obtained the necessary permissions from the sample included in the study

Please note that Infancia y Aprendizaje uses CrossCheck software to screen manuscripts for unoriginal material. By submitting your manuscript to Infancia y Aprendizaje you are agreeing to any necessary originality checks your manuscript may have to undergo during the peer-review and production processes.

Any author who fails to adhere to the above conditions will be charged with costs which Infancia y Aprendizaje incurs for their manuscript at the discretion of Infancia y Aprendizaje’s Editors, Fundación Infancia y Aprendizaje and Taylor & Francis, and their manuscript will be rejected.

Manuscript preparation

1. General guidelines

·Manuscripts are accepted in English or Spanish. A native speaker level of written expression is expected for all manuscripts in any of both languages. Authors who wish to improve the use of English or Spanish in their manuscripts should consider using professional editing services.

All articles will be translated into either Spanish (if the article was submitted in English) or English (if the article was submitted in Spanish), at no cost for the author (see “Translation” below).

No more than one article per year will be published for any given author.

The following articles will be given priority :

o    Articles that tackle the relations between educational and developmental processes, in real contexts, and from new, original theoretical and methodological approaches.

o    Articles submitted to issues dedicated to debates or open calls for papers (one or two of the four issues published annually).

Articles outside of the journal scope:

- Theoretical reviews or reflections, since the journal publishes a section specifically dedicated to invited authors (Prospectives)

-  Educational innovations or experiences limited to explain or describe them without an in-depth analysis of the processes involved and the results obtained.

- Articles limited to validation of tests and psychometric instruments

- Articles limited to replicate previous research with no new contributions to current debate.

-Articles using only standardized tests or multiple choice questionnaires, without other kinds of contrasting measurements to explain the processes involved and/or results obtained

Before submitting your manuscript, please make sure that it fulfils all the requirements included in the  Checklist for manuscript submission to Infancia y Aprendizaje .

Manuscripts should be compiled in the following order: cover containing author identification data; title page with title and running head; abstract; keywords; main text; notes; acknowledgements; references; appendices (as appropriate); table(s) with caption(s) (on individual pages); figure caption(s) (as a list on an individual page); and figure(s) (both in separate files, one for each figure, and embedded in the manuscript, each figure on an individual page; see “Figures” below).

Abstracts of no more than 175 words are required for all manuscripts submitted.

Each manuscript should have no more than 5  keywords.

Section headings should be concise.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a means of making your article more visible to anyone who might be looking for it. Please consult our guidance  here.

All authors of a manuscript must be identified on the cover page of the manuscript, including their full names, affiliations, postal addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses. Author full names must include only one surname, but if the author prefers to use two they should be linked by a short dash, e.g., López-Amor, rule that also applies in case of two first names, e.g., María-José. One author should be identified as the corresponding author. Please give the affiliation where the research was conducted. If any of the named co-authors moves affiliation during the peer review process, the new affiliation can be given as a footnote. Please note that no changes to affiliation can be made after the manuscript is accepted. Please note that the email address of the corresponding author will normally be displayed in the article PDF and the online article.

All persons who have a reasonable claim to authorship must be named in the manuscript as co-authors; the corresponding author must be authorized by all co-authors to act as an agent on their behalf in all matters pertaining to publication of the manuscript, and the order of names should be agreed by all authors.

Anonymity must be preserved throughout the whole text, and expressions such as "as we said in our previous work", etc. should be avoided.

Biographical notes on contributors are not required for this journal.

Please supply all details required by any funding and grant-awarding bodies as an Acknowledgement on the title page of the manuscript, in a separate paragraph, as follows:

o         For single agency grants: "This work was supported by the [Funding Agency] under Grant [number xxxx]."

For multiple agency grants: "This work was supported by the [Funding Agency 1] under Grant [number xxxx]; [Funding Agency 2] under Grant [number xxxx]; and [Funding Agency 3] under Grant [number xxxx]."

Data availability statement. If there is a data set associated with the paper, please provide information about where the data supporting the results or analyses presented in the paper can be found. Where applicable, this should include the hyperlink, DOI or other persistent identifier associated with the data set(s).  Templates are also available to support authors.

Data deposition. If you choose to share or make the data underlying the study open, please deposit your data in a  recognized data repository prior to or at the time of submission. You will be asked to provide the DOI, pre-reserved DOI, or other persistent identifier for the data set.

Authors must also incorporate a  Disclosure Statement which will acknowledge any financial interest or benefit they have arising from the direct applications of their research.

For all manuscripts non-discriminatory language is mandatory. Sexist or racist terms must not be used.

Authors must adhere to  HYPERLINK "http://www.bipm.org/en/si/" \l "_blank"SI units. Units are not italicised.

When using a word which is or is asserted to be a proprietary term or trade mark, authors must use the symbol ® or TM.

Any consistent spelling and punctuation styles may be used. Please use single quotation marks, except where ‘a quotation is “within” a quotation’. Long quotations of 40 words or more should be indented without quotation marks.

Manuscript submission must follow these indications:

1.      All manuscripts must be typed and double spaced on a DIN-A4 paper format, in Times font, size 12, using the same style (normal) and font size throughout the whole document; margins will be at 2,54 cm. (1 inch). The preferred word processing format is Microsoft Word® or other compatible formats; in all cases the name and version of the application must be indicated.

2.      All information about authors, including acknowledgments, should be confined to a removable front page, ensuring that only the manuscript title and the running head appears on the first page. In the following pages, the abstract and keywords, followed by the main text, notes, references and appendices (if applicable).

3.      The running head must appear as header and the page number as footnote all throughout the text.

4.      The abstract must be a summary of the whole article and not only of its conclusions.

5.      Notes (to be avoided inasmuch as possible) must be included at the end of the text, before the reference list.

6.      References must use hanging indentation.

7.      In-text cites and references in the reference list must follow the guidelines set in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Sixth Edition (see “Style guidelines” below).

8.      Tables must be presented in separate pages, one per page, in their definitive layout and be ordered sequentially; the preferred position for each must be indicated within the text.

9.      Figures or photographs must be sent in a separate file, one per figure, and follow strictly the indications given in “Figures” below. Figures should also be embedded at the end of the manuscript file, each in an individual page, and an additional page with a numbered list of figure captions).

10. All complements to the text must fall into the Table/Figure category; otherwise they will only be published as supplemental online material (see below), and will not be included in the print version.

In preparing the reference list, special attention must be paid to:

o    Format: use of italics (never underline), small caps, brackets, full stops, commas, spaces, use of ‘&’, city of publication, etc. (see examples above)

o    Always include page numbers for book chapters and articles.

o    Include the translator’s name if it’s a translated version (see above).

o    Include in the list references to all the in-text citations

o    Write the surname/s and name/s initials of all authors (do not use capitals)

2. Style guidelines

Please refer to these  quick style guidelines when preparing your paper, rather than any published articles or a sample copy.

Description of the Journal’s reference style.

Guide to using mathematical scripts and equations.

3. Figures

Please, it is very important that authors send figures in a separate file for each figure.

Figures should be also embedded in the final pages of the manuscript file, each figure on an individual page (but please make sure they are also sent in separate files).

Only the following formats are accepted: high-quality JPEG for photographs and images in colour or grayscale, and GIF (graphic interchange format) for black and white images or line art.

Please provide the highest quality figure format possible. Please be sure that all imported scanned material is scanned at the appropriate resolution: 1200 dpi for line art, 600 dpi for grayscale and 300 dpi for colour.

Figures must be saved separate to text. Please do not embed figures in the manuscript file.

All figures must be numbered in the order in which they appear in the manuscript (e.g. Figure 1, Figure 2). In multi-part figures, each part should be labelled (e.g. Figure 1(a), Figure 1(b)).

Figure captions must be saved separately, as part of the file containing the complete text of the manuscript, and numbered correspondingly.

The filename for a graphic should be descriptive of the graphic, e.g. Figure1, Figure2a.

There is no submission fee for Infancia y Aprendizaje.

Page charges

There are no page charges for Infancia y Aprendizaje.

If it is necessary for the figures to be reproduced in colour in the print version, a charge will apply. Charges for colour pages are £250 per figure ($395 US Dollars; $385 Australian Dollars; 315 Euros). Depending on your location, these charges may be subject to  Value Added Tax.

5. Reproduction of copyright material

Such material may be in the form of text, data, table, illustration, photograph, line drawing, audio clip, video clip, film still, and screenshot, and any supplemental material you propose to include. This applies to direct (verbatim or facsimile) reproduction as well as “derivative reproduction” (where you have created a new figure or table which derives substantially from a copyrighted source).

You must ensure appropriate acknowledgement is given to the permission granted to you for reuse by the copyright holder in each figure or table caption. You are solely responsible for any fees which the copyright holder may charge for reuse.

The reproduction of short extracts of text, excluding poetry and song lyrics, for the purposes of criticism may be possible without formal permission on the basis that the quotation is reproduced accurately and full attribution is given.

Manuscript submission

Papers for consideration should be submitted via the Editorial Manager submission site.

If any doubts arise or further explanations are needed about manuscript submission, authors may contact us by email:  Anna Sala (Managing Editor), infanciayaprendizaje@gmail.com.

Reviewing

Firstly, manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using the CrossCheck system. Manuscripts whose similarity report reflects that more than 25% has been previously published in other sources by the same author (both individually or in collaboration) are carefully analysed, especially when similarities are found in the Results and/or Conclusions sections. Editors are responsible of deciding whether or not those manuscripts are admitted for review. Manuscripts whose similarity report with other sources is higher than 35% cannot be admitted for review. When similarity occurs with articles authored by other authors, a similarity of 15% is the maximum allowed.

The Editors will then screen all manuscripts, assessing their interest, pertinence, and rigour in terms of the journal’s scope, in addition to various formal aspects. After this phase, the manuscript is sent to the journal Associate Editor whose area of expertise is closest to the subject being addressed, who in turn will send it to two or, exceptionally, three qualified experts in the specific field of research. The authors will receive the referees’ comments and the Associate Editor’s report informing them of the decision adopted about their work. Authors may check at any time the evaluation process' status through the Editorial Manager platform.

Final Version

Upon acceptance, authors are requested to send an electronic file with the final version of the paper and attend to the Editor’s formal requirements. The final text must follow strictly the format indications given in ‘Manuscript preparation’ above.

Translation

Taylor & Francis and Fundación Infancia y Aprendizaje are proud to present a ground-breaking approach to scholarly publishing that will provide authors with maximum exposure of their works in two of the world’s most important scientific communities: all articles accepted for publication will be translated into either Spanish (if the article was submitted in English) or English (if the article was submitted in Spanish), at no cost for the author.

In turn for this potentially exponential increase in article exposure, authors must collaborate in monitoring the quality of the translation as follows:

1. If authors do not fluently speak one of both languages (English or Spanish) or have not had their article translated by a professional translator specialized in the field, it is advisable that they submit their manuscript in their native language.

2. When the final version of the manuscript is received, the Editor will send it for translation.

3. After the article has been translated, authors will then receive:

the original version of their article with the translator’s queries, comments and/or corrections (if applicable).

the translated version of the article.

4. They must review both by:

answering the translator’s queries and accepting or rejecting any corrections (providing an explanation for any rejections) on the original version.

reviewing the translated version for any errors. If the author does not speak the language to which the article has been translated, the author must send the translation for review to a third party, or accept the translation as valid

At this point no changes may be made to the content of the article. The word processing application’s Review tracking function must be used.

The review of the translator’s queries and corrections to the original version and of the translation itself must be sent within 10 days.

5. The Editor and translator will then incorporate any changes into both the original and translated versions, and will send the final translated version for a last review by the authors to ensure all changes and corrections have been correctly made. At this point no changes of any kind may be made: authors must only confirm that the changes suggested in the previous step have been introduced.

6. Once the translation process has been finished, the article will enter the typesetting stage of production.

Note: Although the peer-review process will only be carried out for one version (language) of the article, if authors have a bilingual version of the article they may submit it along with the final version of the article at the end of the peer-review stage so as to speed up the translation process, which will result in faster publication.

Proofs

Authors will receive galleys for proofreading; new text or content cannot be added nor style corrections be made under any circumstances. Corrections must be sent to the Production Editor within seven days.

Copyright and authors' rights

To assure the integrity, dissemination, and protection against copyright infringement of published articles, you will be asked to assign to Fundación Infancia y Aprendizaje, via a Publishing Agreement, the copyright in your article. Your Article is defined as the final, definitive, and citable Version of Record, and includes: (a) the accepted manuscript in its final form, including the abstract, text, bibliography, and all accompanying tables, illustrations, data; and (b) any supplemental material hosted by Taylor & Francis. Our Publishing Agreement with you will constitute the entire agreement and the sole understanding between Fundación Infancia y Aprendizaje and you; no amendment, addendum, or other communication will be taken into account when interpreting your rights and obligations under this Agreement.

Copyright policy is explained in detail  here.

Free article access

As an author, you will receive free access to your article on Taylor & Francis Online. You will be given access to the My authored works section of Taylor & Francis Online, which shows you all your published articles. You can easily view, read, and download your published articles from there. In addition, if someone has cited your article, you will be able to see this information.
