Guide for Authors
The Journal of Clinical Neuroscience is the official journal of the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia, the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists, the Australian and New Zealand Society for Neuropathology, the Taiwan Neurosurgical Society, and the Asian Australasian Society of Neurological Surgeons
As of 1st January 2021, the Journal of Clinical Neuroscience is no longer accepting submissions of Case Reports and Images in Neuroscience papers
Types of papers and word limits
Original research (both clinical and laboratory), correspondence will be considered. The journal also publishes invited review articles and debates on topical and controversial subjects in neuroscience and neurology.
Clinical Paper (should not exceed 5000 words, including references, tables, and figures)
Neuropathological Study (neuropathology, should not exceed 5000 words, including references, tables, and figures)
Experimental Study (lab resource, should not exceed 5000 words, including references, tables, and figures)
Neuroanatomical Study (should not exceed 5000 words, including references, tables, and figures)
Review Article (should not exceed 5000 words, including references, tables, and figures)
Tools and Techniques (technical notes and operative techniques, should not exceed 3000 words, including references, tables, and figures)
Correspondence (commentaries, and correspondence)
Short Communication (should not exceed 1000 words and a maximum of two figures)
Opinion Paper (perspectives, commentaries)
The word limits include references, the abstract, tables, figure captions and supplementary material.
Submission checklist
You can use this list to carry out a final check of your submission before you send it to the journal for review. Please check the relevant section in this Guide for Authors for more details.
Ensure that the following items are present:
One author has been designated as the corresponding author with contact details:
• E-mail address
• Full postal address
All necessary files have been uploaded:
Manuscript:
• Include keywords
• All figures (include relevant captions)
• All tables (including titles, description, footnotes)
• Ensure all figure and table citations in the text match the files provided
• Indicate clearly if color should be used for any figures in print
Graphical Abstracts / Highlights files (where applicable)
Supplemental files (where applicable)
