Author Guidelines
Archaeometry is an international research journal covering the application of the physical and biological sciences to archaeology, anthropology and the history of art. The topics covered include dating methods, artifact studies, mathematical methods, remote sensing techniques, conservation science, environmental reconstruction, biological anthropology and archaeological theory. Papers are expected to have a clear archaeological, anthropological or art historical context, be of the highest scientific standards, and to present data of international relevance.
Accepted Articles
The journal offers Wiley’s Accepted Articles service for all manuscripts. This service ensures that accepted ‘in press’ manuscripts are published online very soon after acceptance, prior to copy-editing or typesetting. Accepted Articles are published online a few days after final acceptance, appear in PDF format only, are given a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), which allows them to be cited and tracked. After publication of the final version article (the article of record), the DOI remains valid and can continue to be used to cite and access the article.
Submission of manuscripts

Manuscripts should be in English, double-spaced and with wide margins.
All submissions must be in an editable file format for copy editing purposes. Scholar One automatically creates a PDF version upon uploading.
Notes and footnotes should be avoided.
PLEASE NOTE: the journal enforces a word limit on all papers. The text which must include Title, Authors, Abstract, Keywords, text, references and Table and Figure captions should be a maximum of 8,000 words. The journal allows a total number of figures and tables which must not exceed 6.
If your paper does not comply with these guidelines your paper will be unsubmitted by the Editorial Office and returned to you for editing.
Review articles surveying recent developments in a field are normally commisioned, but suggestions in the form of a one-page synopsis are welcomed.

This journal is participating in a pilot on Peer Review Transparency. By submitting to this journal, authors agree that the reviewer reports, their responses, and the editor’s decision letter will be linked from the published article to where they appear on Publons in the case that the article is accepted. Authors have the opportunity to opt out during submission, and reviewers may remain anonymous unless they would like to sign their report.
Symbols and units
The conventions for abbreviations of units and symbols are those recommended by the British Standards Institution (leaflet B.S. 5775).
Abstract/keywords
Abstracts should be suitable for separate publication and should not exceed 100 words. Keywords (up to a maximum of 10) should cover, as appropriate, geographical region, period, scientific techniques used, object type, material or species and information sought.
