Aggressive Behavior
Author Guidelines
1. SUBMISSION
Authors should kindly note that submission of a paper will be held to imply that it is unpublished work which is not being considered for publication elsewhere. If accepted, it is expected that the paper will not be published in another journal or book in either the same or another format or language.
Once the submission has been prepared in accordance with the Author Guidelines, manuscripts should be submitted online via ScholarOne at mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ab. Click here for more details on how to use ScholarOne.
The submission system will prompt the author to use an ORCID iD (a unique author identifier) to help distinguish their work from that of other researchers. Click here to find out more.
By submitting a manuscript to or reviewing for this publication, your name, email address, and affiliation, and other contact details the publication might require, will be used for the regular operations of the publication, including, when necessary, sharing with the publisher (Wiley) and partners for production and publication. The publication and the publisher recognize the importance of protecting the personal information collected from users in the operation of these services, and have practices in place to ensure that steps are taken to maintain the security, integrity, and privacy of the personal data collected and processed. You can learn more at https://authorservices.wiley.com/statements/data-protection-policy.html.
For help with submissions, authors should contact the Editorial Office: abeditorial@wiley.com.
At the time of manuscript submission, authors are required to provide the name(s) of at least one appropriate editorial board member with the requisite expertise to handle the review of their paper, and are also encouraged to suggest other potential referees. Authors should provide the email address, institutional affiliation, physical address & telephone number for individuals specified who are not on the editorial board. Please consult Aggressive Behavior's Editorial Board directory for a listing of our board members.
Preprints
Aggressive Behavior will consider submissions that have previously been made available online, either on a preprint server like arXiv, bioRxiv, or PeerJ PrePrints, or on the authors’ own website. However, any such submissions must not have been published in a scientific journal, book or other venue that could be considered formal publication. Authors must inform the editorial office at submission if their paper has been made available as a preprint.
Authors of accepted papers that were made available as preprints must be able to assign copyright to Aggressive Behavior, or agree to the terms of the Wiley Open Access agreement and pay the associated fee.
Given that the measurable impact of the article is diminished when citations are split between the preprint and the published article, authors are required to:
Update the entry on the preprint server so that it links to and cites the DOI for the published version
Cite only the published article themselves
2. AIMS AND SCOPE
Aggressive Behavior will consider manuscripts in the English language concerning the fields of Animal Behavior, Anthropology, Ethology, Psychiatry, Psychobiology, Psychology, and Sociology which relate to either overt or implied conflict behavior. Papers concerning mechanisms underlying or influencing behavior generally regarded as aggressive and the physiological and/or behavioral consequences of being subject to such behavior fall within the scope of the journal. We mainly publish papers describing empirical studies. Where reviews are considered, preference will be given to meta-analyses synthesizing a substantial number of studies on a topic of theoretical importance. Commentaries and discussion papers are not usually considered, except where these concern an important issue raised by a previous paper published in the journal.
3. MANUSCRIPT CATEGORIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Aggressive Behavior publishes the following contribution types:
Research Articles
