International Journal of Remote Sensing is an international, peer-reviewed journal publishing high-quality, original research. Please see the journal's Aims & Scope for information about its focus and peer-review policy.
Aims and scope
International Journal of Remote Sensing publishes international research on remote sensing of the atmosphere, biosphere, cryosphere and the terrestrial earth, as well as human modifications to the earth system.
International Journal of Remote Sensing is an official journal of the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society.
International Journal of Remote Sensing addresses the theory, science and technology of remote sensing and novel applications of remotely sensed data.
The IJRS Drones Section publishes research related to remote sensing with unmanned aerial systems (UASs, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones)
The journal covers the following topics:
Remotely sensed data collection, analysis, interpretation and display
Surveying from space, air, water and ground platforms
Imaging and related sensors
Image processing
Use of remotely sensed data
Economic surveys and cost-benefit analyses
The International Journal of Remote Sensing accepts original research articles and review papers.
The journal operates a single-blind peer review policy. Authors can choose to publish gold open access in this journal.

Please note that this journal only publishes manuscripts in English.
International Journal of Remote Sensing accepts the following types of article: Research Papers, Drones Papers, Special Issue Papers and Review Articles.
Research Papers
Original papers that clearly indicate an advancement in remote sensing research. This advancement should be novel and clearly communicated in the paper with reference to existing literature and knowledge.
Drones Papers
Original papers that clearly indicate an advancement in DRONES remote sensing research. This advancement should be novel and clearly communicated in the paper with reference to existing literature and knowledge.
Special Issue Papers
We welcome papers submitted to current Special Issues. If you wish to propose a Special Issue to the journal’s Editor-in-Chief and Special Issues Editor then please visit our Special Issues page for more information.
Review Articles
Review papers that present a contemporary view and opinion on research findings within a tangible remote sensing topic are welcome. The papers will be scrutinised by the Editor-in-Chief and the Review Papers Editor to determine if reviews should be sought.
Short articles (<10 pages) should be submitted to sister journal Remote Sensing Letters .

Preparing Your Paper
Structure
Your paper should be compiled in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; main text introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion; acknowledgments; declaration of interest statement; references; appendices (as appropriate); table(s) with caption(s) (on individual pages); figures; figure captions (as a list).
Word Limits
Please include a word count for your paper. There are no word limits for papers in this journal.
