International Journal of Automotive Technology

Instructions for Authors

Submission

Authors should submit an electronic file of their contribution to the Paper Review System on the IJAT website, http://www.IJAT.net. All papers will be reviewed and assessed by a series of independent referees through the internet via the IJAT website, http://www.IJAT.net.

Originality

It is a condition of publication that the manuscripts submitted to the journal are original and have not been published or submitted elsewhere, in whole or in part. In a covering letter, the authors must affirm this to be true. The authors must agree not to publish elsewhere a paper published by the journal.

Copyright

A copyright transfer form will be sent to the author. All authors must sign the ‘Transfer of Copyright’ agreement before the article can be published. This transfer agreement enables the KSAE to protect the copyrighted material for the authors, but does not relinquish the author’s proprietary rights. The copyright transfer covers the exclusive rights to reproduce and distribute the article, including reprints, photographic reproductions, microform or any other reproductions of similar nature and translations, and includes the right to adapt the article for use in conjunction with computer systems and programs, including reproduction or publication in machinereadable form and incorporation in retrieval systems. Authors are responsible for obtaining from the copyright holder permission to reproduce any figures for which copyright exists.

Manuscripts

Manuscripts must be typed on good quality A4 paper using MS-Word template. The Template can be download at IJAT website(www.IJAT.net). The language of the journal is English. For the benefit of the reviewers, figure legends should be with the illustrations. All pages should be numbered consecutively.

While no maximum length of contribution is prescribed, authors are encouraged to write concisely.

Style

The manuscript should be organized in the following order: Title; authors & affiliations; abstract (100_200 words in length); main body of paper; acknowledgements (where applicable); appendices (where applicable). An abbreviated title of less than 60 characters (including spaces) should also be suggested.

Illustrations

Photographs, charts and diagrams are to be referred to as “Figure(s)” and should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are referred. They should be inserted at upper and/or lower positions in the text.

All illustrations should be clear and suitable for reduction (up to 50% of the original size). Lettering must be clear, open and large enough to be reduced by the same proportion.

The amount of lettering on a drawing should be reduced as far as possible by transferring it to the legend.

Units

Because of the international character of the journal, no rigid rules concerning notation or abbreviations need be observed by authors, but SI unit must be used and each paper should be self-consistent as to symbols and units that should be properly defined.

Mathematical Expressions

Mathematical symbols and formulae should be typed. Particular care should be exercised in identifying all symbols and in avoiding ambiguities. Distinction should be made between the number one (1) and letter 1, and between the number zero (0) and the letter O. A vector will be printed in boldface and to indicate this the letter should be underscored with a single wavy line.

Equation numbers should appear in parentheses and be numbered consecutively. All equation numbers must appear on the right-hand side of the equation and should be referred to within the text. Use the following sequences of parenthesis: )]}.

Tables

Tables will be typeset. Care should to taken to ensure the contents of the table are legible.

References

The Harvard System of references is to be used. In the body of the text a paper is to be referred to by the author’s surname with the year of publication in parentheses. References should be listed together at the end of the paper in alphabetical order by author’s surname thus:

Huh, H. (2000). Identification of autobody crashworthiness for spaceframed vehicle models by finite element limit analysis. Int. J. Automotive Technology 1, 1, 101-112.

Book References are given as follows:

Incropera, F. P. and DeWitt, D. P. (1990). Fundamentals of Heat and Mass Transfer. 3rd edn. John Wiley & Sons. New York.

Publication Charges

The charge for paper within 6 pages is USD 150 per page, and USD 50 per additional page.

More information about charges can be found at www.ijat.net.

Proofs

Page proofs will be sent to the author (or the first-mentioned author in papers of multiple authorship unless otherwise indicated) for checking. Corrections to the proofs must be restricted to printer’s errors: any other changes to the text, in equations or grammar, may be charged to the author. Proofs should be returned to the publisher within three days of receipt to minimize the risk of the author’s contribution having to be held over to a later issue.

The Editors and publisher do not accept responsibility for the correctness of published contents; it is the author’s responsibility to check the content at proof stage.
