ACM Transactions on Graphics
Author Guidelines
Scope
As explained in the Editorial Charter, ACM Transactions on Graphics publishes papers of significant and lasting value in all areas of computer graphics, broadly construed.
Submission categories
TOG accepts manuscript submissions in these categories:
Previously unpublished research paper. These can include material presented as a SIGGRAPH Sketch or in a workshop, symposium or conference so long as it was not published in a journal.
Resubmission of SIGGRAPH/SIGAsia paper requesting reviewer continuity. If a paper has previously been rejected from a SIGGRAPH conference, the authors may request that the original SIGGRAPH reviewers examine the revised paper, in order to improve continuity of the review process. The SIGGRAPH organization will forward the reviews and reviewer names to a TOG associate editor, who will coordinate the process and make the acceptance recommendation.
Publication policies
The ACM Publications Policies page addresses issues of plagiarism, copyrights, simultaneous submissions, etc.
The new ACM Author Representations Policy can be found at: http://www.acm.org/publications/policies/author_representations.
Information regarding use of third-party material can be found at: http://www.acm.org/publications/third-party-material
Simultaneous Submission.
TOG requires that submission are not under review for any other venue.
Format
Manuscripts have to be submitted
as PDF files,
without author names, and
including line numbers.
Manuscripts should be prepared using ACM's templates found at: http://www.acm.org/publications/authors/submissions. The document style of ACM TOG is different from most other ACM publications. ACM's submission and publication workflow depends on the system used for document preparation. Currently only the LaTeX templates provide a close approximation of TOG's style, and authors are encouraged to use LaTeX if possible. Specifics for creating TOG submissions:
LaTeX: the required options for "\documentclass" are "acmtog" to select the TOG template, "anonymous" to hide the author names, and "review" to generate line numbers; the correct style for the bibliography is "\acmauthoryear".
Word: use the Submission Template provided by ACM and turn on line numbering (Layout - Line Numbers - Continuous).
Authors are encouraged to keep the presentation concise. It may be appropriate to place content in supplementary electronic material that accompanies the submission. Such supplementary material is made available with the paper in the ACM Digital Library after the paper is published.
Anonymity
Material submitted for review may not identify the authors. This means not providing the names or institutions of the authors on the manuscript, and all other material undergoing. Instead of the names, include the TOG submission ID generated by Manuscript Central (see below). Earlier or largely similar versions of the manuscript that are publicly available (on arxiv, as a technical report, etc) are NOT to be cited, as they would identify the authors. Please include this material using the designation "Supplemental File(s) not for review". It may be helpful to point out differences (if any) as part of this supplemental material. Eearlier work by the same authors that is related but not similar should be cited and referred to a neutral way (i.e., not using pronouns such as "we" or "us"). Make sure that submitted material, in particular PDF files, do not contain information about the authors in the metadata.
The external referees should be anonymous to the authors. Material cannot be made available to referees on websites (other than those used by ACM), as accessing the servers would potentially compromise the anonymity of the referees. Also, modern versions of PDF allow inclusion of a script that informs the creator when the file is accessed. Using this feature will lead to immediate rejection of the paper.
