2.1 Format

Manuscripts must be typed on A4 (210 × 297 mm) paper, double-spaced throughout and with ample margins of at least 3.5 cm. All pages must be numbered consecutively. Starting with the title page as p.1, the text, which begins with p.2, is to be arranged in the following order: summary, brief introduction, material and methods (or patients/subjects and methods if human patients/subjects were involved), results, discussion, acknowledgements, references, figure legends, tables.

The title page must provide the title in English, name(s) of author(s), departmental and institutional affiliation, a short title of no more than 45 characters (including spaces) to be used as running head, up to five topical key words in English for subject indexing, the full postal address of the corresponding author to whom proofs will be sent. The title should be brief and should indicate the species studied. Subtitles are not encouraged.

The summary should not exceed 200 words, should be one paragraph and should be free of references and abbreviations. It should clearly indicate the scope and main conclusions of the paper.

The introduction should give the pertinent background to the study and should explain why the work was completed.

The material and methods should give essential details, including experimental design and statistical analysis.

The results should present the findings of the research. They should be free from discussion. Results should be written in the past tense.

The discussion should cover, but not simply repeat, the new findings and should present the author's results in broader context of other work on the subject interpreting them with a minimum of speculation.

The acknowledgements should be as brief as possible.

2.2 Length

Including illustrations, tables, and references, manuscripts should not exceed 15 pages of DIN A4. Brief communications, including title, summary and references must not exceed 1000 words plus one figure or table. The number and size of figures and tables should be limited to the essential minimum.

2.3 Units, abbreviations and nomenclature

The SI (Système International) units should be used. Doses of drugs should be given as unit weight per body weight, e.g. mmol kg-1. Rates should be expressed with negative indices. Concentrations should be given in terms of molarity, e.g. mmol 1-1, not a mM.

For semen analysis authors should use the following nomenclature: spermia = referring to semen volume; aspermia = no semen; hypospermia = volume less than 2 ml*; zoospermia = referring to spermatozoa in semen; oligozoospermia = less than 20 million spermatozoa per ml*; asthenozoospermia = decreased motility of spermatozoa* (less than 50% motile spermatozoa [WHO categories 'a' and 'b'] or less than 25% spermatozoa of WHO category 'a'); teratozoospermia = more than 70% abnormal spermatozoa* (*Even though these terms can be used, they should whenever possible be replaced with precise information about volume, sperm density etc.)

2.4 Illustrations and tables

Figures should be saved in a neutral data format such as JPEG, TIFF or EPS. Powerpoint and Word graphics are unsuitable for reproduction. Please do not use any pixel-oriented programmes. Scanned figures (in JPEG and TIFF formats) should have a resolution of 300 dpi (halftone) or 600 to 1200 dpi (line drawings) in relation to the reproduction size. For more information on supplying electronic artwork, please visit http://www.authorservices.wiley.com/bauthor/illustration.asp.

Please note that figures will generally be reduced to fit within the printed column (80 mm wide) or the width of the entire page (170 mm). The maximum possible length of the layout is 240 mm. Numbering and lettering must still be readable when reduced (e.g. maps), and the scale might not correspond with the original (microscopic pictures), thereby invalidating references to scale in the text. If a figure is to be cropped, please mark the lines on a photocopy or tracing paper. Printouts should be made with a laser printer at the highest resolution (¡Ý600 dpi).

Captions for the figures should give a precise description of the content and should not be repeated within the figure. Inscriptions should be uniform, about 3 mm high, and must be professionally prepared. Letraset (or equivalent instant lettering) is recommended for lettering micrographs, including figure numbers.

Tables should be created using the table function. Each table should carry an appropriate legend and should be presented in a way that makes the table self-explanatory.

Numerical results should be expressed as means with the relevant standard errors and/or statistically significant differences, quoting probability levels (P-values).

Guidelines for Cover Submissions: If you would like to submit original images or artwork from or related to your accepted manusvcript for conver consideration, please follow these guidelines.

2.5 References

APA – American Psychological Association

References: List all sources in the reference list alphabetically by name. . In text citations should follow the author-date method. This means that the author's last name and the year of publication for the source should appear in the text, for example, (Jones, 1998), and a complete reference should appear in the reference list at the end of the paper.

References are styled according to the sixth edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. A sample of the most common entries in reference lists appears below. Please note that for journal articles, issue numbers are not included unless each issue in the volume begins with page one.

Journal article: Phelps, L. (1996). Discriminative validity of the WRAML with ADHD and LD children. Psychology in the Schools, 33, 5-12.

Book edition: Bradley-Johnson, S. (1994). Psychoeducational assessment of students who are visually impaired or blind: Infancy through high school (2nd ed.). Austin, TX: Pro-ed.

References should refer only to material listed within the text.

2.6 ELocators

This journal now uses eLocators. For more information, please visit the Author Services eLocator page here.

3. Proofs

Authors will receive an e-mail notification with a link and instructions for accessing HTML page proofs online. Page proofs should be carefully proofread for any copyediting or typesetting errors. Online guidelines are provided within the system. No special software is required, all common browsers are supported. Authors should also make sure that any renumbered tables, figures, or references match text citations and that figure legends correspond with text citations and actual figures. Proofs must be returned within 48 hours of receipt of the email. Return of proofs via e-mail is possible in the event that the online system cannot be used or accessed.

Please note that the author is responsible for all statements made in their work, including changes made during the editorial process - authors should check proofs carefully.

4. Author material archive policy

Please note that unless specifically requested, Wiley-Blackwell Publishing will dispose of all hardcopy or electronic material submitted two months after publication. If you require the return of any material submitted, please inform the editorial office or production editor as soon as possible if you have not yet done so.

5. Author services

Author Services enables authors to track their article - once it has been accepted - through the production process to publication online and in print. Authors can check the status of their articles online and choose to receive automated e-mails at key stages of production. The author will receive an e-mail with a unique link that enables them to register and have their article automatically added to the system. Please ensure that a complete e-mail address is provided when submitting the manuscript. Visit http://authorservices.wiley.com/bauthor/ for more details on online production tracking and for a wealth of resources including FAQs and tips on articles preparation, submission and more.

Free access to the final PDF offprint or your article will be available via author services only. Therefore, please sign up for author services if you would like to access your article PDF offprint and enjoy the many other benefits the service offers.

6. Author Licensing

If your paper is accepted, the author identified as the formal corresponding author will receive an email prompting them to log in to Author Services, where via the Wiley Author Licensing Service (WALS) they will be required to complete a copyright license agreement on behalf of all authors of the paper.

Authors may choose to publish under the terms of the journal’s standard copyright agreement, or Open Access under the terms of a Creative Commons License.

General information regarding licensing and copyright is available here. To review the Creative Commons License options offered under Open Access, please click here. (Note that certain funders mandate that a particular type of CC license has to be used; to check this please click here.)

Self-Archiving definitions and policies. Note that the journal’s standard copyright agreement allows for self-archiving of different versions of the article under specific conditions. Please click here for more detailed information about self-archiving definitions and policies.

Open Access fees: If you choose to publish using Open Access you will be charged a fee. A list of Article Publication Charges for Wiley journals is available here.

Funder Open Access: Please click here for more information on Wiley’s compliance with specific Funder Open Access Policies.

7. Early View

Andrologia is now available via the Early View service. Early View articles are complete full-text articles published online in advance of their publication in a printed issue. Articles are therefore available as soon as they are ready, rather than having to wait for the next scheduled print issue. Early View articles are complete and final. They have been fully reviewed, revised and edited for publication, and the authors’ final corrections have been incorporated. Because they are in final form, no changes can be made after online publication. They are given a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), which allows the article to be cited and tracked. After publication, the DOI remains valid and can continue to be used to cite and access the article.

8. Disclaimer

The Publisher and Editors cannot be held responsible for errors or any consequences arising from the use of information contained in this journal; the views and opinions expressed do not necessarily reflect those of the Publisher and Editors, neither does the publication of advertisements constitute any endorsement by the Publisher and Editors of the products advertised.

9. Data Sharing and Accessibility

The journal encourages authors to share the data and other artefacts supporting the results in the paper by archiving it in an appropriate public repository. Authors should include a data accessibility statement, including a link to the repository they have used, in order that this statement can be published alongside their paper.

10. Post Publication

Article Promotion Support

Wiley Editing Services offers professional video, design, and writing services to create shareable video abstracts, infographics, conference posters, lay summaries, and research news stories for your research – so you can help your research get the attention it deserves.

Wiley’s Author Name Change Policy

In cases where authors wish to change their name following publication, Wiley will update and republish the paper and redeliver the updated metadata to indexing services. Our editorial and production teams will use discretion in recognizing that name changes may be of a sensitive and private nature for various reasons including (but not limited to) alignment with gender identity, or as a result of marriage, divorce, or religious conversion. Accordingly, to protect the author’s privacy, we will not publish a correction notice to the paper, and we will not notify co-authors of the change. Authors should contact the journal’s Editorial Office with their name change request.

Transferable Review: Health Science Reports

This journal works together with Wiley’s Open Access Journal, Health Science Reports to enable rapid publication of good quality research that is unable to be accepted for publication by our journal. Authors may be offered the option of having the paper, along with any related peer reviews, automatically transferred for consideration by the Editor of Health Science Reports. Authors will not need to reformat or rewrite their manuscript at this stage, and publication decisions will be made a short time after the transfer takes place. The Editor of Health Science Reports will accept submissions that report well-conducted research that reaches the standard acceptable for publication. Health Science Reports is a Wiley Open Access journal which is indexed on PubMed/MEDLINE and Scopus. For more information please go to www.healthsciencereports.org.

We look forward to your submission.
