《天津大学学报(英文版)》

1. Editorial procedure

Transactions of Tianjin University follows a double-blind peer review procedure.

2. Manuscript submission

Legal requirements

Submission of a manuscript implies: that the work described has not been published before; that it is not under consideration for publication anywhere else; that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities – tacitly or explicitly – at the institute where the work has been carried out. The publisher will not be held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation.

Permissions

Authors wishing to include figures, tables, or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) for both the print and online format and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors.

How to submit

Please follow the hyperlink “Submit manuscript” on the right to open the online submission system called ScholarOne Manuscripts. This will allow quicker and more efficient processing of your manuscript. Each manuscript should also be accompanied by a cover letter that summarizes the main findings of the work and its novelty.

Please ensure you provide all relevant editable source files, and a blinded manuscript without any author names and affiliations is needed. Failing to submit these source files might cause unnecessary delays in the review and production process.

3. Manuscript preparation

Manuscripts should be well organized, with concise language and avoiding redundant tables and figures. The manuscript text file should include the following parts, in order: A separate title page, Abstract, Keywords, Main text, Acknowledgements, References, Figure legends, and Tables.

Title Page

A separate title page should contain: A concise and informative title, The name(s) of the author(s), The affiliation(s) and address(es) of the author(s), The contact information of the corresponding author, and Conflict of interest statement.

Abstract

Please provide a concise and factual abstract of 150 to 250 words. The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the methods, the principal results and major conclusions. Footnotes, references, mathematical expressions, figures and tables, and all nonstandard symbols and abbreviations should be avoided in the abstract.

Keywords

Please provide 4 to 6 keywords which can describe the manuscript for indexing.

Heading/Section levels (numbered)

For regular Research Papers and Review Articles, please use the decimal system of headings. Please divide your article into clearly defined and numbered sections and subsections. Sections should be numbered 1, 2, etc. Subsections should be numbered 1.1 (then 1.1.1, 1.1.2,...), 1.2, etc. Each section and subsection should be given a brief heading, and each heading should appear on its own separate line. For Short Communication, no section levels are needs.

Main text

Main text should contain an introduction that puts the paper into perspective for readers, and should also contain Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusions. The SI system should be used for units of measure throughout the text.

Formulas

Each Equation or Formula in the manuscript should be numbered in the order with Arab numerals placed on the right-hand margin.

Notation

Please use the standard mathematical notation for formulae, symbols etc. Physical and mathematical variables, constants, and unknown quantities should be in italic; vectors, tensors and matrices in bold italic; units, abbreviations and special functions in upright. Please add notes to explain any other special symbols.

Figures

The preferred figure format is TIFF, EPS or JPEG with the resolution of 600 dpi relative to the final figure size. All figures should be numbered using Arab numerals (figure parts should be denoted by lowercase letters) and supplied in a separate electronic file with a figure caption. Please make sure that all elements found in the figure are identified in the caption.

Figures should be cited in text, such as Fig. 1, Fig. 2, in consecutive numerical order. Color figures will be published in both the printed version and the online version, at no additional charge.

Tables

Please supply a table title for each table. The table title should explain clearly and concisely the components of the table. All tables should be numbered using Arab numerals and cited in text, such as Table 1, Table 2, in consecutive numerical order. Tables should not duplicate results presented elsewhere in the manuscript (for example, in figures).

Abbreviations

Abbreviations should be defined at first mention and used consistently thereafter.

Acknowledgements

This is for the authors to express their gratitude to those who have helped during their research. Information concerning funding organizations (including the grant numbers) for the reported research is also usually provided here. The names of funding organizations should be written in full.

References

Citation

Reference citations in the text should be identified by numbers in square brackets. Examples:

       • Carl Bosch developed the necessary engineering skills [11].

       • This effect has been widely studied [3–5, 7].

Reference list

Please number the references in the list at the end of the manuscript text, in the order of their first citation in the text. Each numbered reference may contain only one literature citation. The list of references should only include works that are cited in the text and that have been published or accepted for publication. Papers accepted for publication are cited as "in press". Do not use footnotes or endnotes as a substitute for a reference list. Examples:

Electronic Supplementary Material

Springer accepts electronic multimedia files (animations, movies, audio, etc.) and other supplementary files to be published online along with an article. This feature can add dimension to the author's article, as certain information cannot be printed or is more convenient in electronic form.

Before submitting research datasets as electronic supplementary material, authors should read the journal’s Research data policy. We encourage research data to be archived in data repositories wherever possible.

4. Disclosure of potential conflicts of interest

Authors must disclose all relationships or interests that could influence or bias the work. Although an author may not feel there are conflicts, disclosure of relationships and interests affords a more transparent process, leading to an accurate and objective assessment of the work. Awareness of real or perceived conflicts of interests is a perspective to which the readers are entitled and is not meant to imply that a financial relationship with an organization that sponsored the research or compensation for consultancy work is inappropriate.

Examples of potential conflicts of interests that are directly or indirectly related to the research may include but are not limited to the following:

Research grants from funding agencies (please give the research funder and the grant number)

Honoraria for speaking at symposia

Financial support for attending symposia

Financial support for educational programs

Employment or consultation

Support from a project sponsor

Position on advisory board or board of directors or other type of management relationships

Multiple affiliations

Financial relationships, for example equity ownership or investment interest

Intellectual property rights (e.g. patents, copyrights and royalties from such rights)

Holdings of spouse and/or children that may have financial interest in the work

In addition, interests that go beyond financial interests and compensation (non-financial interests) that may be important to readers should be disclosed. These may include but are not limited to personal relationships or competing interests directly or indirectly tied to this research, or professional interests or personal beliefs that may influence your research.

The corresponding author will include a summary statement on the title page that is separate from their manuscript, that reflects what is recorded in the potential conflict of interest disclosure form(s). See below examples of disclosures:

Funding: This study was funded by X (grant number X).

Conflict of Interest: Author A has received research grants from Company A. Author B has received a speaker honorarium from Company X and owns stock in Company Y. Author C is a member of committee Z

If no conflict exists, the authors should state:

Conflict of Interest: Author A, Author B, and Author C declare that they have no conflict of interest.

5. After acceptance

Copyright

Authors will be asked to sign a license agreement of the article to the Publisher. This will ensure the widest possible protection and dissemination of indentation under copyright laws.

Color illustrations

Online publication of color illustrations is free of charge.

Proof reading

The purpose of the proof is to check for typesetting or conversion errors and the completeness and accuracy of the text, tables and figures. Substantial changes in content, e.g., new results, corrected values, title and authorship, are not allowed without the approval of the Editor.

Online first

The article will be published online after receipt of the corrected proofs. This is the official first publication citable with the DOI. After release of the whole issue, the paper can also be cited by issue and page numbers.

After online publication, further changes can only be made in the form of an Erratum, which will be hyperlinked to the article.

6. Research Date Policy

The journal encourages authors, where possible and applicable, to deposit data that support the findings of their research in a public repository. Authors and editors who do not have a preferred repository should consult Springer Nature’s list of repositories and research data policy.

General repositories- for all types of research data – such as Figshare and Dryad may also be used. Datasets that are assigned digital object identifiers (DOIs) by a data repository may be cited in the reference list. Data citations should include the minimum information recommended by DataCite: authors, title, publisher (repository name), identifier.

Springer Nature provides advice on research data policy support service for authors and editors, which can be contacted at researchdata@springernature.com.

This service provides advice on research data policy compliance and on finding research data repositories. It is independent of journal, book and conference proceedings editorial offices and does not advise on specific manuscripts.

7. Open Choice

Open Choice allows you to publish open access in this journal, making your research more visible and accessible immediately on publication.

Article processing charges (APCs) vary by journal

Copyright and license term – CC BY

Open Choice articles do not require transfer of copyright as the copyright remains with the author. In opting for open access, the author(s) agree to publish the article under the Creative Commons Attribution License.
