Information for Authors
IEEE Journal of Selected Topics of Quantum Electronics (JSTQE) Scope:
IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics is a hybrid journal allowing open access and traditional submission. It is published by the IEEE Photonics Society. Published papers fall within the broad field of science and technology of quantum electronics of either a device, subsystem, or system-oriented nature. Each issue is devoted to a specific topic within this broad spectrum. Announcements of the topical areas planned for future issues, along with deadlines for receipt of manuscripts, are published in this Journal and in the IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics. Generally, the scope of manuscripts appropriate to this Journal is the same as that for the IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics. Manuscripts are published that report original theoretical and/or experimental research results that advance the scientific and technological base of quantum electronics devices, systems, or applications. The Journal is dedicated toward publishing research results that advance the state of the art or add to the understanding of the generation, amplification, modulation, detection, waveguiding, or propagation characteristics of coherent electromagnetic radiation having submillimeter and shorter wavelengths. In order to be suitable for publication in this Journal, the content of manuscripts concerned with subject-related research must have a potential impact on advancing the technological base of quantum electronic devices, systems, and/or applications. Potential authors of subject-related research have the responsibility of pointing out this potential impact. System-oriented manuscripts must be concerned with systems that perform a function previously unavailable or that outperform previously established systems that did not use quantum electronic components or concepts. Tutorial and review papers are by invitation only.
The journal offers the thorough review process that is a signature of IEEE Publications. Upon acceptance papers receive a Digital Object Identifier and are published in the Early Access on IEEE Xplore. At this stage papers are fully citable. JSTQE offers moderate editing of accepted papers.
Review Process:
The articles in this journal are peer reviewed in accordance with the requirements set forth in the IEEE Publication Services and Products Board Operations Manual (https://pspb.ieee.org/images/files/files/opsmanual.pdf). Each published article was reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers using a single-blind peer review process, where the identities of the reviewers are not known to the authors, but the reviewers know the identities of the authors. Articles will be screened for plagiarism before acceptance.
The journal offers the thorough review process that is a signature of IEEE Publications. Upon acceptance papers receive a Digital Object Identifier and are published in the Forthcoming Section on IEEE Xplore. At this stage papers are fully citable. The final published version of the papers is copy-edited by IEEE to ensure higher production quality.
Overlength Page Charge:
Contributed papers are 8 pages double columned in length. For each page in excess of 8 pages, the cost of overlength charges imposed on the author is U.S. $220.00.
Invited papers are 12 pages, double columned in length. For each page in excess of 12 pages, the cost of overlength charges imposed on the author is U.S. $220.00.
ORCID
All IEEE journals require an Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) for all authors. ORCID is a persistent unique identifier for researchers and functions similarly to an article’s Digital Object Identifier (DOI). ORCIDs enable accurate attribution and improved discoverability of an author’s published work. The author will need a registered ORCID in order to submit a manuscript or review a proof in an IEEE journal. Researchers can sign up for an ORCID for free via an easy registration process on orcid.org.
Learn more at http://orcid.org/content/about-orcid or in a video at https://vimeo.com/97150912.
Authors who do not have an ORCID in their ScholarOne user account will be prompted to provide one during submission.
