Annals of the American Thoracic Society
AnnalsATS Instructions for Contributors
As an international print and online journal, the Annals of the American Thoracic Society (AnnalsATS), covers adult and pediatric pulmonary medicine, respiratory sleep medicine, adult critical care medicine, and public health.
The mission of the Annals of the American Thoracic Society (AnnalsATS) is to improve the health of adults and children with respiratory diseases, sleep disorders, and critical illness through dissemination of research and clinician education.
The goals of the journal are:
To disseminate new information arising from high-quality clinical, epidemiological, and health services research related to respiratory, sleep, critical care medicine, and population health
To educate pulmonary, sleep, and critical care providers about clinical care
To publish commentary on public health, environmental health, global health, and health policy relevant to ATS members
Formatting Notice:
AnnalsATS does not require a specific format for initial submissions of Original Research manuscripts. A title page that includes author names, author affiliations, and contact information for the corresponding author are the only requirements. Consecutive line numbers throughout are suggested, but not required. Revised Original Research manuscripts and all other manuscript types must adhere to our formatting criteria.
Methodology and Reporting Notices:
Original Research manuscripts reporting the results of observational causal inference studies (e.g., cohort studies, case-control studies, cross-sectional studies) should adhere to the guidance provided by the editors of respiratory, critical care, and sleep journals.
The editors of AnnalsATS endorse established international statements and guidelines designed to improve the accuracy and transparency of clinical research. An up-to-date catalog of resources for authors of health research is maintained online by the EQUATOR Network Resource Center.
Requirements for submitted articles generally conform to the “Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly work in Medical Journals,” developed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
AnnalsATS accepts submissions only through our online submission portal in ScholarOne. Additional guidance for submitting manuscripts can be found below in the Manuscripts Submission section.
