Guide for Authors
Clinical Genitourinary Cancer is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original articles describing various aspects of clinical and translational research in genitourinary cancers. Clinical Genitourinary Cancer is devoted to articles on detection, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of genitourinary cancers. The main emphasis is on recent clinical and translational developments in all areas related to genitourinary malignancies. Our Editorial Team aims at quick turnaround in review, decision-making, and publication (from the initial submission to online publication within 8 weeks).
Types of papers
Review and Mini-Review: Review articles collect, describe, and evaluate prior publications of important clinical and/or translational studies, accompanied by critical analysis of data, leading to rational and clinically valuable conclusions. Interesting topics include emerging transformative therapeutic trials and/or biomarker-based companion diagnostics studies. Review/Mini-Review could contain some original data from the authors to support the overall thesis.
Mechanics: Review articles contain an abstract (≤ 300 words for full-length Review, and ≤ 200 words for min-Review) encompassing brief sections of Introduction, Methods (optional for Mini-Review), Results (Optional for Mini-Review), and Conclusion; and expanded sections of Introduction, subtitled breakdown Discussion, and Conclusion. Review articles contain ≤ 4,000 words (≤ 2,000 for Mini-review), ≤ 8 figures and/or tables (≤ 3 for Mini-review), and ≤ 120 references (≤ 60 for Mini-review). Authors with insightful review ideas are encouraged to contact EIC before submission for expedited review and publication.
Perspective:Perspective articles are more focused and forward thinking than reviews. Specifically, it identifies outstanding issues, challenges or findings that concern emerging clinical/translational sciences, or controversial opinions (issues) within the field; and proposes novel, transformative hypotheses or directions that inspire constructive discussions. Perspective articles might include very limited if any original data (≤3 displayed items) from the authors to support a particular view or opinion.
Mechanics:Perspective articles contain a short abstract (≤200 words)stating the overarching goal, which is followed by expanded sections of Introduction, Subtitled Breakdown Discussion, and Conclusion. Perspective articles contain ≤3,000 words,≤ 6 figures and/or tables, and ≤100 references.
Original Study:Original Study articles present results of original clinical and/or translational research. These articles present new data collected by the authors on early phase clinical trials, biomarker discovery and validation studies, and preclinical researches. Studies with immediate clinical implications such as companion diagnostics are of priority. It can also be a high-impact comprehensive meta-analysis of large contemporary trials, offering critical/informative clinical practice conclusions or guidelines.
Mechanics:Original Study should contain a structured abstract (≤300 words) with brief sections of Introduction, Patients and Methods, Results, and Conclusion; and expanded sections of Introduction, Patients and Methods, Results, and Conclusion. Original Study articles contain ≤4,000 words, ≤8 figures and/or tables, and ≤80 references.
