Types of paper
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT ARTICLE TYPE DURING SUBMISSION:
Only manuscripts with more than 15 submitted manuscript pages can be considered as Full Length Articles. Manuscripts longer than 5,000 words can be considered as full length articles. Otherwise please choose short communication. (About more than 7 printed pages are considered a full length article.)
Authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts electronically, using the online submission tool for SSC at the following website:https://www.editorialmanager.com/ssc/default.aspx.
Short Communications - A coherent quantitative treatment emphasizing new physics is expected rather than a simple accumulation of experimental data. Consistent with these aims, the submitted manuscripts should be kept concise and short, usually not longer than six printed pages. The number of figures and tables should also be kept to a minimum.
To meet the journal 6-page publication limit, the manuscript should be no longer than 4200 words in total, including text, title, abstract, equations, figure captions, references, tables and figures. To determine the equivalent number of words when figures, tables or equations are used refer to the following guidelines:
One column wide (7.5 cm) figures/tables: 20 words per cm height
Two column wide (15 cm) figures/tables: 40 words per cm height
Equations: 20 words for each equation
To establish the number of text words required for a 6-page article, subtract the number of words calculated for each figure, table, and equation from 4200.
For example, the total number of text words available for a manuscript with one 10 cm x 15 cm figure and one 8 cm x 7.5 cm table and one equation would be as follows:
Remaining words available for text: 4200 - (400+160+20) = 3620 words.
Fast Track Articles - For Fast Track, authors should submit a justification for the request.
The Fast-Track section of Solid State communications is the venue for very rapid publication of "short communications on significant developments in condensed matter science". The goal is to offer the broad condensed matter community quick and immediate access to publish recently completed papers in research areas that are rapidly evolving and in which there are developments with great potential impact. .
Full Length Articles- the journal now also welcomes unpublished original work with thorough investigations.
The journal also publishes Highlights and Invited Reviews - these will normally be commissioned by one of the Editors. Prospective authors of a highlight or review article should complete and submit the Review or Highlight Proposal Form for Editorial approval prior to submitting their review.
