References
References must be prepared in Word, double-spaced, and listed alphabetically. Include the reference section as part of the main text file, not as a separate file. A complete list of authors, titles, and page numbers must be included in each reference. Each reference must be cited in the text and listed in parentheses with the author’s last name and year of publication; see examples below. Three or more authors should be listed as (Author et al 2020).
Use journal abbreviations as provided by PubMed/Medline. If references to personal communications or unpublished data are used, they are not to be in the list of references. They should be referred to in the text in parentheses: (AB Jones, personal communication). When data from an unpublished source are given, supply complete information, e.g., the researcher's name and location. Written permission must be obtained from the author of any unpublished material cited from other laboratories and for personal communications and should accompany the manuscript. Include among the references any articles that have been accepted but have not yet published; identify the name of publication and add "In Press." If the reference has been published online, provide the DOI number in place of the page range.

Third-party submissions
JICR will no longer consider manuscripts submitted by a third-party service or agency. All manuscripts must be submitted directly by the corresponding or submitting author.
Visual Abstract
Visual abstracts (VAs) allow readers to quickly analyze the main purpose of an article and assist in the identification of articles that are most relevant to their interests or areas of research. They are designed to promote interdisciplinary scholarship and to increase the visibility of one’s work in search engines. Authors are encouraged to submit an image (visual abstract) that clearly outlines the work described in the manuscript. For those who are not able to supply a visual abstract themselves, the Publisher can provide one at a cost of $200 USD per visual abstract. Contact Editing@liebertpub.com for more information.
