Information for Authors
Authors are encouraged to submit papers and correspondence to the IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting. To qualify for publication, these materials must be previously unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere.
Field of Interest
The field of interest of the IEEE Broadcast Technology Society and the IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting encompasses devices, equipment, techniques and systems related to broadcast technology, including production, distribution, transmission, and progation aspects.
Types of Contributions
Contributions may be Transactions papers, Brief papers or Correspondence. The distinction is not one of quality, but rather of nature.
A Transactions paper is a thorough treatment of the subject. A Transactions Paper is a presentation of significant research, development, or application of broadcast technology. Papers include contributions from authors that describe useful new results, ideas, or innovations that advance the state-of-the-art broadcast technology engineering, systems and applications. A Transactions Paper is a fairly lengthy paper of approximately 6 to 20 pages.
A Brief Paper addresses one or two points related to a subject. A Brief Paper is intended for the rapid publication of new and significant research results. A Brief Paper undergoes a complete peer review process, but it can usually completed in less time than required for a Transactions Paper. A Brief Paper is a fairly short paper of approximately less then 8 pages.
A Correspondence is usually one or two pages. A Correspondence serves to disseminate significant remarks, ideas, or suggestions of interest to broadcast engineers. Correspondence can also be used to provide comments on previously published papers.
To enhance the appearance of your article on IEEEXplore®, a graphical abstract can be displayed along with traditional text. The graphical abstract should provide a clear, visual summary of your article’s findings by means of an image, animation, video, or audio clip.
Any author submitting a paper to the Transactions on Broadcasting should use the two column format. Please use this template
Please also complete a copyright form with all authors name listed. Only the cooresponding author needs to sign the copyright for it to be valid
NOTE: The graphical abstract is considered a part of the technical content of the article, and you must provide it for peer review during the article submission process.

Peer Review
This Journal employs the peer-review system in the processing of manuscripts for publicationin order to ensure that this publication retains its position as the premier source of archival literature used worldwide for the development of broadcast technology and the profession. Three reviewers, or at least two reviewers, and an Associate Editor actively working in the field, shall review each manuscript submitted. Reviewers' suggestuibs for the revision of the manuscript are forwarded to the author by the Associate Editor. The final decision as to the publication of the manuscript is based on the opinions expressed by the reviewers plus the judgement of the Associate Editor who is managing the peer review process.
The articles in this journal are peer reviewed in accordance with the requirements set forth in the IEEE Publication Services and Products Board Operations Manual (https://pspb.ieee.org/images/files/files/opsmanual.pdf). Each published article is reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers using a single-blind peer review process, where the identities of the reviewers are not known to the authors, but the reviewers know the identities of the authors. If authors would prefer a double-blind review process they are required to explicitly request it in the submission letter and their identities should not appear in the manuscript. In this case the process will be carried out keeping their identities unknown to the reviewers.
Submission
You may submit your paper via our automated paper submission website https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tbcour automated paper submission website https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tbc
Electronic Publishing Format: The IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON BROADCASTING uses an electronic publishing format as provided by the IEEE TRANSACTIONS Department. The IEEE electronic publishing format process enables authors to submit their initial manuscripts in Formatted (Double Column) Main File - PDF Document Only Once the peer review process is complete and your paper is recommended for publication, will be requested to submit the final manuscript via https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tbc .
Procedure for Submission of a Technical Manuscript:
1) Submit manuscript via Formatted (Double Column) Main File - PDF Document Only o our our automated paper submission website https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tbc
2) Be ready to supply a technical biography and photo in either jpeg.original, glossy photograph of each author of a paper (not for a Brief or Correspondence) upon acceptance of the paper.
3) The author must ascertain that any company clearance, or foundation release necessary for publication of the paper in this IEEE
TRANSACTIONS ON BROADCASTING has been obtained. If the paper or any modification of it has been submitted for publication in the public literature, the author must indicate this in the letter of transmittal accompanying the submitted paper. Prior to publication authors will be asked to complete an IEEE copyright release form which is published in the March issue every year.
4) The referee process assures anonymity of reviewers of all papers. It is also possible to provide a blind review in which the author’s identity is unknown to the reviewers. If you wish blind processing, inform the Editor-in-Chief in your cover letter and ensure that your name appears on only a removable cover page.
Submission of a manuscript amounts to assurance that it has received proper clearance from the author's company or institution, that it has not been copyrighted, published, or accepted for publication elsewhere, that it is not currently being considered for publication elsewhere, and that it will not be submitted elsewhere while under consideration.
If you have any questions or concerns for paper submission please contact Jennifer Barbato at bt-pubs@ieee.org

The copyright form returns to authors and their employers appropriate rights to reuse their material for their own purposes.
Open Access
Open Access: This publication is a hybrid journal, allowing either Traditional manuscript submission or Open Access (author-pays OA) manuscript submission. Upon submission, if you choose to have your manuscript be an Open Access article, you commit to pay the discounted $1,750 OA fee if your manuscript is accepted for publication in order to enable unrestricted public access. Any other application charges (such as over-length page charge and/or charge for the use of color in the print format) will be billed separately once the manuscript formatting is complete but prior to the publication. If you would like your manuscript to be a Traditional submission, your article will be available to qualified subscribers and purchasers via IEEE Xplore. ORCID
All IEEE journals require an Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) for all authors. ORCIDs enable accurate attribution and improved discoverability of an author’s published work. The author will need a registered ORCID in order to submit a manuscript or review a proof in this journal.
Follow these steps to link a ScholarOne account to a registered ORCID:
1. Login to ScholarOne and click on your name in the top right corner of the screen.
2. Click E-mail / Name in the dropdown menu.
3. In the ORCID section at the top of the page, click the appropriate link to either register for a new ORCID or associate the account with an existing ORCID.
4. A new page will open to create and/or validate your ORCID. Once the validation is complete, the new page will close and you will return to ScholarOne.
5. Save the changes to your ScholarOne user account.
Authors who do not have an ORCID in their ScholarOne user account will be prompted to provide one during submission.
Further Information for Authors
For further information on the preparation and formatting of your manuscript before submission, please refer to the IEEE Tools for Authors.
Publication Charges
Currently, the IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting does not have mandatory publication page charges. However, the IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting welcomes authors to pay a voluntary over-length page charge to support the publication costs, e.g., for Transactions paper longer than longer than 10 pages and Brief paper longer than 6 pages. The voluntary page charge is US$110/page
English Language Editing Services
English language editing services can help refine the language of your article and reduce the risk of rejection without review. IEEE authors are eligible for discounts at several language editing services; visit the IEEE Author Center to learn more. Please note these services are fee-based and do not guarantee acceptance.
BTS accepts manuscripts which have not been formatted to the IEEE template, however all papers will formatted to this template if accepted. Authors are encouraged to apply the IEEE format template to their paper before submission for a preview of what the final paper will look like. Follow this link to the Word template.
