Submission information
The Annali della Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, Classe di Scienze, publishes papers that contribute to the development of Mathematics both from the theoretical and the applied point of view. Research papers or papers of expository type are considered for publication.
How to submit a paper
Authors should submit their manuscript as a PDF file to the address:
publ_sci@sns.it
An abstract should also be enclosed. The abstract must be in English, in the form of a text file containing as little mathematical formulae as possible. If formulae cannot be avoided they should be written using the customary TeX- or LaTeX-like method. The appropriate Mathematics Subject Classification (MSC) number(s) should also be provided.
Papers will not be considered for publication unless the abstract and MSC numbers have been sent by e-mail.
The sender’s e-mail address must be the one where authors wish to receive all correspondence concerning their paper. Authors should also indicate the postal address where they wish to receive ordinary mail. The editorial office (Redazione) should be informed immediately of any change of address. Prospective contributors are expected to keep a copy of their own paper identical to the copy they submitted.
On submitting a paper authors bind themselves neither to submit the same or essentially the same paper to other journals nor to do so before the Editorial Board has come to a decision concerning publication.
How to prepare manuscripts
Papers submitted for publication should be preferably in English.
Authors are encouraged to prepare their manuscripts using TeX or one of the systems derived from it. Whatever system they use, authors will be requested, in case of acceptance, to send the source file(s), in order to speed up publication. Figures and complex diagrams should be sent as PostScript or Encapsulated PostScript files, or printed on a separate sheet in a form suitable for reproduction.
The first page of each paper should contain: title, full name of each author (first names should not be abbreviated), abstract and MSC number(s); key-words need not be indicated. Acknowledgements should appear at the end of the introduction. The last page should contain the affiliation, postal address and e-mail address of each author.
If the paper title exceeds 55 characters, including spaces, a short title to be used as a running-head should be provided.
Literature references should be listed in alphabetical order at the end of the paper. Authors should imitate the following examples, which correspond respectively to papers published in journals, papers published in proceedings or other edited volumes, and books:
[1] E. De Giorgi, Nuovi teoremi relativi alle misure (r − 1)-dimensionali in uno spazio ad r dimensioni, Ricerche Mat. 4 (1955), 95–113.
[2] E. Bombieri and A. J. van der Poorten, Continued fractions of algebraic numbers, In: “Computational Algebra and Number Theory”, W. Bosma and A. van der Poorten (eds.), Kluwer Academic Publishers, Dordrecht, 1995, 137–158.
[3] S. K. Donaldson and P. B. Kronheimer, “The Geometry of Four-Manifolds”, Oxford Science Publications, Clarendon Press, Oxford, 1990.
Authors are requested to make sure that they are including all the appropriate information in each reference item, and to pay special attention to the capitalization and italicization rules. The Abbreviations of Names of Serials, available from the American Mathematical Society, should be used as a reference for all abbreviations. If several papers by the same set of authors are included in the references, name(s) should be repeated.
Open access policy
A paper accepted for publication in the Annali della Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, Classe di Scienze, can be posted on personal web pages, institutional servers, or public repositories, provided:
1) All the publication details (journal name, year, volume, page numbers, DOI code) are indicated as soon as they become available;
2) The article's version is identical to the final one submitted by the author(s) and accepted by the journal, before undergoing copy-editing and typsetting; posting the PDF file that the journal sends to the author(s) is strictly forbidden.
If a paper was already posted before acceptance, it can be kept available provided the above two conditions are met.
Other information
As a rule, authors will be asked to correct only one set of proofs. Contributors are invited to limit corrections as far as possible to typographical errors only.
Fifteen off-prints and a high-resolution pdf file will be supplied, free of charge, for each article. Additional copies may be requested by authors when returning the corrected proofs and will be paid separately.
