Beijing International Review of Education (BIRE) 是一本基于读者订阅、通过同行评审、范围广泛的教育学学术刊物，其内容涵盖教育理论、教育史、教育哲学及其他以实际经验为基础的相关学科，旨在出版内容广泛的英语学术论文。
BIRE尤其关注教育学科在社会、道德和经济三方面对人类文明的贡献。期刊欢迎学者们踊跃投稿，无论是重要的新成果，还是思想性更强的论文均可。
BIRE将着力推出兼顾学者、相关决策者的研究兴趣和广大教师、普罗大众阅读口味的文章。期刊刊发的所有文章都会经过严格的评审过程—编辑初审以及同行双盲审。
BIRE于2019年4月首发，每年发行四期。所刊论文字数6000字以内（含参考文献），字数超过此限制的论文将由编辑们决定是否刊发。

Instructions for Authors
Scope
This international journal is a subscription-based, peer reviewed, general review of educational theory, history, philosophy and related empirical sciences that aims to publish a wide range of articles in English. It has a particular focus on the contribution of education -- socially, morally and economically -- to society, culture and economy. The journal welcomes articles on significant new research as well as material of a more reflective nature. The Beijing International Review of Education (BIRE) aims to publish articles that are of interest not only to academics and policy makers but also teachers and members of the public. All articles in this journal undergo rigorous peer review.
Ethical and Legal Conditions
The publication of a manuscript in a peer-reviewed work is expected to follow standards of ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: authors, editors, and reviewers. Authors, editors, and reviewers should thoroughly acquaint themselves with Brill’s publication ethics, which may be downloaded here: brill.com/page/ethics/publication-ethics-cope-compliance.
Online Submission
BIRE uses online submission only. Authors should submit their manuscript online via the Editorial Manager (EM) online submission system at: editorialmanager.com/bire. First-time users of EM need to register first. Go to the website and click on the "Register Now" link in the login menu. Enter the information requested. During registration, you can fill in your username and password. If you should forget this username and password, click on the "send login details" link in the login section, and enter your e-mail address exactly as you entered it when you registered. Your access codes will then be e-mailed to you.
Please upload source files and not pdf files. Any figure files should be uploaded separately, and should have high density of at least 300-600 dpi at a size suitable for printing.
The revised document is uploaded the same way as the initial submission. The system automatically generates an electronic (PDF) proof, which is then used for reviewing purposes. All correspondence, including the editor’s request for revision and final decision, is sent by e-mail.
Double-blinded Peer Review
BIRE uses a double-blind peer review system, which means that manuscript author(s) do not know who the reviewers are, and that reviewers do not know the names of the author(s).
When you submit your article via Editorial Manager, you will be asked to submit a separate title page that includes the full title of the manuscript, the names and complete contact details of all authors, the abstract, keywords, and any acknowledgement texts. This page will not be accessible to the referees.
All other files (manuscript, figures, tables, etc.) should not contain any information concerning author names, institutions, etc. The names of these files and the document properties should also be anonymised.
File Format
Authors should make use of Apple Macintosh or PC format to submit files in MS Word, using the Brill font (brill.com/about/brill-fonts) or a generic fonts such as Arial, Calibri or Times in 12 point font size, double spaced, justified text, with pages numbered bottom right. If you need to use other fonts, always send them along with the text file.

Submission Requirements
Language
Manuscripts should be written in English. American and British spelling should not be mixed: spelling should be consistent throughout. The preferred form in English is American English, unless the author is a native speaker of British English. The text must be grammatically correct and in good literary style. The manuscript should have been checked before submission by a qualified native speaker. Where both -ise and -ize spellings are possible, the latter should be used, e.g. in “standardize”, “italicize”, “realize”; but note that exercise, circumcise, compromise and many other words must be spelled with -ise. For questions concerning spelling, hyphenation, and punctuation, consult Webster’s Third New International Dictionary and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, 10th ed.
Length
Articles should normally be around 6,000 words. Reviews of relevant books are also welcome and should be 500−1,000 words, although longer reviews may be accepted by agreement. Reviews should be critical and not just summarize the content of the material reviewed.
Manuscript Structure
General
Submitted manuscripts should be double-spaced (including footnotes, which should appear at the bottom of the page). Keep formatting to an absolute minimum. Use italics only in your files to format the text which has to be typeset as italics. Indent paragraphs with a single tab.
All text should be double spaced, use font 12, and be paginated through.

Contact from potential contributors to discuss possible submissions at an early stage is encouraged.
Submissions should contain the following elements in this order:
1. Title page [not author’s name etc. because it needs to be anonymised. Name details go on a separate title page]
2. Abstract (articles only). The abstract should provide a summary of the key points not exceeding 200 words.
3. Keywords (articles only). Up to 6 keywords should be provided for the benefit of indexing and abstracting services.
4. Text (see below for style guidelines)
5. Acknowledgements (if applicable). Contributors, collaborators, publication contexts, permissions etc.
6. References, film/videography, other.
7. Footnotes are to go at the bottom of the page. Please do not use endnotes (see below for style guidelines).
Abstract and Keywords
Submissions must include an abstract of a maximum of 150 words and eight keywords.
Headings
All headings should be aligned flush left and unnumbered.
First level headings should be in bold, 2 lines of white above, one below; second level headings in bold italic, 1 line of white above, none below; third level headings in roman, with 1 line of white above, none below. Footnotes This journal uses footnotes and not endnotes. Footnotes should be numbered consecutively (using Arabic rather than Roman numerals), double-spaced, and in the same font size as the main text. A footnote number may be used only once: sub-numbering of notes (e.g. note 30a) is not acceptable. Authors should eliminate lengthy discursive notes either by omitting the material or by working it into the narrative body of the text.

The Journal uses the APA style of in-text citations.
Reference List
Details of all work cited should appear at the end of the article in the ‘References’.
Bibliographical references from the main body text must adhere to the following basic APA model. For detailed information, please see the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Sixth Edition (2010); apastyle.org/ and blog.apastyle.org/. Please add a DOI wherever available.

Quotations If they are brief (3 lines or fewer), quotations should be run on with the text. The practice in the United States is that double marks are used first (“) and then (‘) single quotation marks. Longer quotations should be indented, without quotation marks. All indented quotations should be typed double-spaced.
Translations & Abbreviations
Names of non-English organizations, non-English book titles and non-English expressions in the running text are written in italics in the original language. The abbreviation or/and English translation is written between square brackets (roman).

Figures
Photographs and illustrations are very welcome. A minimum of 300 dpi resolution is required for photographs and illustrations. TIFF or JPEG files are preferred.
Line drawings and other diagrams should be in a camera-ready state, capable of reduction and a minimum of 600 dpi resolution is required.
All photographs and illustrations should be accompanied by a caption that should include the figure number, and appear in sequence, with an acknowledgement to the copyright holder, where necessary.
Figure Captions Provide a list of captions for all illustrations and photographs at the very end of the article, typed double spaced. Identify the illustration by its number, describe it with a concise caption (include the location and date, if relevant/known), cite the full source, and acknowledge credit (permission granted). For art images, captions should include the artist’s name (if relevant/known), title and/or description of the artwork, year of the artwork, year or time period (if known), medium, size, and archival location.

Proofs
Upon acceptance, a PDF of the article proofs will be sent to each author by e-mail to check carefully for factual and typographic errors. Authors are responsible for checking these proofs and are strongly urged to make use of the Comment & Markup toolbar to note their corrections directly on the proofs. At this stage in the production process only minor corrections are allowed. Alterations to the original manuscript at this stage will result in considerable delay in publication and, therefore, are not accepted unless charged to the author. Proofs should be returned within 7 days of receipt to the journal manager.
E-Offprints
A PDF file of the article will be supplied free of charge by the publisher to authors for personal use. Brill is a RoMEO yellow publisher. The Author retains the right to self-archive the submitted (pre-peer-review) version of the article at any time. The submitted version of an article is the author's version that has not been peer-reviewed, nor had any value added to it by Brill (such as formatting or copy editing). The Author retains the right to self-archive the accepted (peer-reviewed) version after an embargo period of 12 months. The accepted version means the version which has been accepted for publication and contains all revisions made after peer reviewing and copy editing, but has not yet been typeset in the publisher’s lay-out. The publisher’s lay-out must not be used in any repository or on any website (brill.com/resources/authors/publishing-books-brill/self-archiving-rights).

Transfer of Copyright
By submitting a manuscript, the author agrees that the copyright for the article is transferred to the publisher if and when the article is accepted for publication. For that purpose the author needs to sign the Consent to Publish which will be sent with the first proofs of the manuscript.
Open Access
Should the author wish to publish the article in Open Access he/she can choose the Brill Open option. This allows for non-exclusive Open Access publication under a Creative Commons license in exchange for an Article Publication Charge (APC), upon signing a special Brill Open Consent to Publish Form.
